Dear friends,
Ithas been more than a year I am using gmail POP3 service. Earlier I was using a dial-up connection and it was working fine. I use Outlook express of MSOffice2003 as my mail client. Now I have stopped my dial-up connection to go broadband which I am getting through a cable modem and ethernet port in my desktop. My OS is Win XP+SP1. The problem I am facing now is, whenever I open my mail client and click on send/receive, it shows an error " error 623 : The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection " and I am not able to retrive my mails or send any .

I have complete faith on the geeks hang up at this place, please help. I am trying too to fix this problem.

Is actually a real word..
try going to the connections tab in IE options and remove all dialup connections listed there.
would recommend up date to SP2.. however that plus all updates might take you a day ;)

Garbage

God of Mistakes...
Try to install XP SP2 (now u have BroadBand connection ;-) )
or use autopatcher to update ur system.

Apart from the above mentioned solutions, if you are not planning to use dialup anymore, delete all the dialup connections you see there and then open outlook, go to tools > Email account > view or change existing account > then go into the properties of the account you have there (one at a time), then click on more settings > go to 'Connection' Tab > and select the option that says, 'Connect using my local area network(LAN ) and do not check the option below that.

check and let us know

Dear Friends, Thanks to everybody .. Actually the it was a setting problem in Outlook itself which i had overlooked and thought it will sense the change of connection type automatically .. When why other attempts failed i dropped the question here .. when i came back to my system , i checked it again and saw there is a connection setting in outlook , which probably i had forgotten .. I selected to connect to internet through LAN and it iz working fine ..

But still another problem i am facing when i want send a mail with attached file through gmail POP3 account , though only receiving part is perfectly fine ..
May b this problem is inherent with google .. but if anybody gives any solution , i would b thankfull ..

Thanks all of U who have taken pain to answer my Post ..

BSNL wouldn't allow you to use any other outgoing server than their own except for a few exception. This is the case with any ISP. Take a look on BSNL's help with outlook and there, they have listed a few outgoing servers. Try changing yours and try sending out. It's a trial and error method as some servers will work, some wont.:D

Change Outlook Account Settings such that it says: "use my active LAN connection".

Don't ask screenshot bcoz i am linux user.
