Google adds another experimental opt-in feature to its roster of Gmail Labs experiments: Advanced IMAP Controls, a way to selectively decided which of your Gmail labels are available to your IMAP client plus other tweaks. With the new feature enabled, go to the Labels tab under your Gmail account's Settings area to select and de-select "Show in IMAP" on a per-label basis. Google describes a few other "obscure" IMAP features you can configure, as well.

Nice...but just one question

WHen will Gmail come out of Beta(distant future)

well how does it matter to us as to when Gmail will be out of Beta...until we really Face a lot of bugs ..atleast i dont any have any issues with it..

sometimes some products often remain in Beta version for years ....for testing its features and relying on audience feedback, this is exactly the case with Gmail since they keep up bringing New features to it quite often.... allowing General public like u n me to test it and return with some feedback so they can be implemented into the final version of products... which hopefully can be "BUG FREE" in its Final Release thanks to the years of Beta Testing Phases...

so friends keep a keen eye on the latest offering of Google's Gmail features so we can help them come out of there "BETA" versions ... ;-)

Yes. New features have to be added. But a software/service from a big company is not expected to remain in beta for this long.

hi .. i think u missed this thread.
gmail was down last nite

when something is in BETA stage and something goes wrong it gives the company the freedom to say, well you know wat ... the product is still in BETA. People all over the world had severely criticized google when it was down for more than 20 hours.
many organizations faced mail downtime across Europe.

Google didnt even have a customer care to respond to people.

^^ Exactly; you preserve your deniability if the software is in beta.
But as for me; I have never faced any problems. Wether it was down or up ;) whenever I checked my mail, it was alrightt.
