Have you ever sent an email, and just as it was going on its merry way, you realize you misspelled something or you sent it to the wrong person. This happens to me a lot on Gmail because sending an email is not always instant. And you have more chances to experience email regret as you are waiting for one to send.

Well, now you can take advantage of that delay to “undo” the message. (Not to be confused with Gmail Goggles, which is geared more at preventing drunken emails from ever being sent out in the first place). Just enable the feature in Gmail Labs in Settings (Scroll down, it is not at the top for some reason). It only works during that 5 second delay between the time you hit send and the time that Gmail actually sends the message.

But a time period of just 5 seconds is pretty small to realize a mistake in thee mail, usually

yea 20secs should be enough.btw one thing i am not understanding about this forum is why the thread gets created almost the same dayas it appears in the newspaper.being a tech forum i guess we should be more updated than the masses who read tech columns in only newspapers.

nonetheless keep creating threads guyz.there is a serious lack of tech news articles on this forum

basically a delayed sending....and time frame of 5 seconds is too less... but I don't think they'll increase the time frame cos once they do that then GMail will become snail mail when compared to other services ...

Actually the number of times you realize a wrong mail within first 5 secs is more than the number of times after 5 secs, if you come to think of it. So it's a useful feature. Usually it's only instant that you say "oh man!! hold..hold... let me correct that", well now you can.

I think half a minute would be optimal. I sometimes send emails to wrong mail addresses. Sometimes they contain confidential data. It has happened only once though and fortunately the wrong mail address didn't exist.
