I have read many threads with people talking about overclocking, crossfire and other blah blah blah. My knowledge in case of hardware is damn poor as u may have already noticed. So please help me around with getting this pc. I have been using laptop for 4yrs and so no gaming. I want my good ol days back now. So please suggest a config on which i can run almost all games within my budget.

Budget: 40-50k
Main use: Gaming
Future proof

Please help me.
Thanks.

^^Better to take quad core instead of dual core

yes, i know. better but better costs more :)

i'll suggest get the graphics card & PSU. the proccy will sure shot unlock to X3 or X4. else u can get a lower priced 785G based mobo (Biostar TA785G3 HD) & 955BE. it'll be futureproof as long as AMD sticks to socket AM3.

AMD Phenom II X4 955BE - 8.5k ---> priced almost ok.
Gigabyte MA785GMT-USB3 5.8k ---> get Biostar TA785G3 HD or ECS mobo. though u'll loose USB 3.0
Sapphire HD5850 1GB GDDR5-15k ---> right price.
4(2*2GB) 1333MHz Gskill DDRIII RAM-6k ---> right price.
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500 GB 2.2k ---> may look for Samsung F3 Eco. 2k or less.
LG 22x DVD writer 1.2k
Samsung S2233SW 8.5k ---> why not benq? u'll save 1k or more.
NZXT Gamma - 2k ---> please keep something like this. best value.
Corsair VX550-4.5k ---> will cost more.
Microsoft Deluxe KB+mouse combo - .9k

Good news for you. Phenom II 955BE is 7.7k, not 8.5k. Spend this extra 1 k (almost) to get a 890G or 885GX based motherboard. Biostar TA890GXE @ 6.6k or ECS A885GM-A2 @ 4.9 will be a good choice
You will get SATA 3, USB 3 etcand if you upgrade to 6 core processors from AMD in future, you will get gr8 performance. So better opt for these new chipset based mobos.

he may also opt for Athlon II X4 635. which should have a price cut very soon. bringing its price to X4 630's level. however looking at 7.7k X4 955BE combined with 880G board. it'll be a killer pc for absolute value price.

however 6 cores will affect his rig. he already running past his budget. so 955BE + 880G looks quite good.

@anshulbans, try search for boards based on 770 & 870X. they'll be cheaper, even if from Gigabyte or MSI or Asus compared to 785G/880G. as the IGP is missing.

I have noticed a tendency of leaving out speakers in every config, don't people buy speakers these days?
Since your primary purpose is gaming I would suggest a logitech mouse. You wouldn't want the gun point flying off to the top when you were at that critical point in far cry 2, would you? (I've often faced flying mouse cursors with Microsoft & iBall mice). And if far cry 2 is a bit old, just replace the name with a new one, I'm not a big fan of FPSs you see.
On a serious note, I'm really a fan of logitech, even a Rs. 300 PS/2 mouse performs like something, never seen such accuracy on any any other company's mouse.

about speakers, thats totally upto the person buying. peoples prefer 5.1/2.1/7.1 or some headphones. forcing them buy a speaker when they not need them will only irritate them at most. so we skip UPS. some prefer iBall and some APC. also rating different. some happy with 5min backup whereas some need 30min. thats all :smile:

in games, 630 or 955 doesn't make a huge difference. better be safe. with 955, theres a chance, a bad heatsink may come your way. with X4 630, no chance. and it runs really cool. do OC to about 3Ghz. will aid games.

A couple of suggestions for you
1st switch to BenQ 22" G2220 FULL HD LCD Monitor @ 7.5k which will save 1k.
2ndly For Motherboard, go for the ECS A885GM-A2 @ 4.9k. No need to spend 5.8k for a 785G chipset baseb mobo. If you want something pricey, then Biostar TA890GXE @ 6.6k will be a good choice.

Changing to Athlon II X4 from Phenom II X4 will obviously lower some performance details. So the extra 2k saved by my suggestion, you can go for it, also can get a Phenom II 945 or Phenom II 925 price at 6.7k or 7k.

it totally depends upon when will u wanna upgrade ur rig next time
there is a performance difference between the 2 proccys,but it wont matter much since u have 5850
and if u still feel some lagging then u can overclock it

If you are going to use the PC for games, processor doesn't really matter that much unless it is a good fast one. It's the graphics card that matters more. Just for an illustration, a tech magazine had written "an average processor with a low end graphics card gives 5 times better performance than a very good processor without a graphics card." So that's how important a graphics card is to a gaming machine, go for the best possible graphics card in your budget.
