^^Considering OP's budget Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H wil be a good choice right? The M5A97 will overshoot the budget for sure.

sorry for taking you wrong 22 :D I have yet to research over the motherboards and now m doing so by reading the stickies :D Also, even i would suggest the Asus M5A97 as it is marginally better than the Gigabyte 880GM and provides full overclocking support and unlocking potential, whats more, it also has 2 PCI-E slots and supports crossfire just for around 1.2K more than the Gigabyte board :D

no problem :D

read these -

AMD Motherboard VRM information list.

i think a sticky on VRM will be helpful.work is going on & hopefully it will be up in near future.

well, look for these -

1. AMD HD6850 (preferably MSI Cyclone version)
2. AMD HD7770
3. AMD HD7750 (performance less than both of the above cards)
4. AMD HD6870 (is around 3K more than the above cards but worth the performance, and you also get a choice :D )

TopSpeed has overlocked the HD6850 to 1GHz but i don't know how it performs against the stock HD6870. Moreover i just gave OP a choice, it's upto him now :) .But does this mean that buying an HD6870 for 3K more than the HD6850 is not worth it because the performance difference is meagre? I read that the HD6850 give a greater performance/price ratio, so it should be a good buy :D
