I am looking for a SATA DVD writer as my new motherboard does not support my current IDE DVD writer..

i rarely write any Cd/DVD. So writing speed does not really worries me. i just want a long lasting drive

my old LG DVD writer [IDE] is 3.5 years old and still works perfectly.

plz suggest a good and reliable burner.

My personal experience with 2 Asus DVD drives ( both bought on 2009 ) was not good but looking at the the customer feedbacks DRW-24B3ST looks to be a good drive you can get.

Most of the Asus DVD drives has 1 year warranty but acc to the asus optical storage warranty policy this may vary :

Warranty period may differ regionally, please check with your purchase Site.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Warranty Policy DRW-24B3ST

But on even newegg the warranty is showing 1 year on this drive ... so before getting it ask flipkart about actual the warranty period and let us know about this.

I've one LG Drive 6 years old and another Sony Drive 7 years old - both are working till now ;-)
