Let the music play.....
Hi all,

I just ran msconfig from my run dialog box and it gave me the msconfig. In the startup tab there is an entry called Kernel fault and its command is

%systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

What is this?? And is this really needed?? Replies will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

more info

The Dumprep.exe tool is a Windows XP fault logging program. If a serious error occurs, Dumprep.exe writes the error details to a text file. The Dumprep.exe tool then prompts you to send the error information to Microsoft. The Dumprep.exe tool is a non-essential system process that is installed for third-party use.

when some of my app's freeze and i try to close them via task manager this "dumprep"thing appears on the taskmanager and i've found that ending dumprep will kill the "non responding" application instantly
