Hey this is really urgent!

Last year one of my friend bought a PC with a Seagate SATA HDD 80GB. Well the problem was that ki when the PC seemed to be working perfectly fine, it gave a disk read error on the next restart. And then nothing could be done except reinstalling XP.
It even happened sometimes during XP installation when it required reboot and the installation had to be done from the beginning.
Then I thought ki probably the HDD was faulty.
But now another of my friend has got the same error on an 80GB Hitachi SATA HDD. His PC was working perfectly when on the next restart it gave the error 'Disk Read Error Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot...'
Now I'm sure that this is only a problem with SATA HDDs.
Can someone help me rectufy this problem without the pain of reinstalling everything. And also how can I prevent it in future!!!

How can I contact the Digit SOS team??? Tell me...

As I mentioned above, the error has been seen on drives from two manufacturers, so I think this is a general error.

In addition to above, also check jumpers, if more than one HDD [i.e. ATA & SATA] are installed. Make sure in bios you configure SATA HDD as IDE devices. I too faced same kind of problems with samsung & seagate. This is general error and not related to any particular drive. combinations of the above solutions would help you out.

sata doesnt have any jumpers
and sata is to be configured as a SCSI drive , not as ide
it wont be detected as IDE

OK I got your point. I'll check the cables and tighten them up.

@theraven The drive does get configured as IDE in AMI Bios. How shall I configure it as SCSI, there's no option.
And I'm not on a RAID array as I've only one drive.

Will tell you whether it worked or not!!

anyways in my exp. sata gets detected as a scsi drive not IDE
so im not quite sure how u configured it as ide

maybe its a different controller than the one i have
