Difference in Temperature between Speedfan and Realtemp.

Why do you think that happens? Which is more reliable?

I think my processor is running too hot while idle. I'm using a Cooler Master V8 cooler. No OC'ing so far. I have attached it properly and have tied up cables etc. Would a picture of my cabinet help?

GPU is 60 degrees at idle. Is that normal?

Just use RealTEMP. You can cross reference with CoreTEMP. Your temperatures seem fine.

I guess speed fan is measuring the tCase temp while realtemp is measuring tJunction temps thats CPUS have 2 diodes at diff locations on the CPU die to measure the temps... Hence the diff. As asingh suggested stick to Real temp.

i faced the same issue, speedfan is not accurate. Use realtemp, as you can see, speenfan is showing 12 cores for your i7 proccy.

^^ In OPs case Speedfan is wrong about showing temp but it's not wrong about showing 12 cores. Look carefully - those 12 boxes are for cpu usage display and as core i7 980X is a six core hyper threaded cpu windows will recognize it as a 12 core cpu, Task manager will show 12 boxes for cpu usages and so does speedfan.

@ OP - the temp you are getting with V6 is just fine and if you are interested start OCing.
