Dude don't crack your brains, crack your head on the wall. Never install a older OS upon a newer one. Windows 7 doesn't uses boot.ini like win XP. When you installed XP it wiped all the boot loader information of win 7 from the MBR. Try to repair your win 7 from the bootable DVD. I am not sure if there is any such option in the bootable DVD. Better you clean install XP and then install win 7.

first of all use some meaning title for your thread, so that and members and figure out the problem just be reading the title.

Secondly i think thats a common problem with most of you, 1st 7 then xp, use a tool calles EasyBCD to reconfigure your booting sequence. EasyBCD will work under 7.

Easy BCD

His win 7 is now non-bootable as well as he crapped out his Xp installation? Now what can he do? He can repair his XP installation still though.

There is still one way, if it follows the XP way of installation.
1. Repair the XP installation which i believe is in any partition other than C.
2. Install Win 7 on C:, you will be able to format your C drive during installation and still retain your boot information about XP, if Win 7 installation follows what XP did during installation.
