One of my Logical Partitions is corrupt and I'm unable to access my 142+ GB of stuff.
Please suggest some methods to avoid formatting / recover data after formatting.

BIOS Terminator
1. Run->diskmgmt.msc-> post the screenshot

2. If you have a Linux LiveCD, boot from it and check if you can access the partition.

the boot sector of that partition is corrupted so it is being shown as RAW.
try the Linux Live CD method first if it can be done the easy way.

if you fail, then

you may
1. use Testdisk to repair the NTFS boot sector. here is how Advanced NTFS Boot and MFT Repair - CGSecurity

2. use Recuva to recover the files in the corrupted partition.

3. Last resort: mark the partition as ntfs using the fdisk command under Linux.

After repairing the NTFS boot sector, I was still unable to access drive but an unthoughtful reboot invoked chkdsk which recovered most of the files lost and made drive accessible again.

Thanks a lot for the help :mrgreen:
