.......

I'm a gnome user, so here's the gnome part!
1. For services
system>administration>server settings>services

2. For startup programs
system>preferences>more preferences>sessions>>"startup programs" Tab

for fluxbox you need to put programs in ~/.fluxbox/startup file
In KDE they go to ~/.kde/Autostart directory.

Gnome is a way too heavy for my PC.:(

Which programs do you want to start?

I wantto start Ktorrent.

Waise is there any other torrent program for linux.

I ve used transmission. Its good but you cant select which files to download from the whole bunch.(I get around 20-24kbps)

utorrent sucks (both in windows and in wine; i never get more than 2.0kbps)

Till now ktorrent is the best as it gives speed with file selection. But still it is heavy on my PC.:(

And i read the reviews of azureus and they say its a heavy application.

Any other options???? :D

AFAIK XFCE comes with xfce4-autostart-editor and it should be in settings menu. Have you checked in that menu for an entry that says Autostart applications or something similar? If it is not there...look in your distros package manager for this package. May be they split it from the whole desktop and put in a separate package.
