Planning to buy a new pc

My maximum budget goes till Rs.30000

1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: GAMING, photo-video editing, HD Media Viewing, Multi-Tasking ^^(This doesn't mean i'd like to compromise on speed factor)

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: YES

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 30000, 'm on Tight Budget here so need VALUE FOR MONEY( I trust you digitians so plz help)

4. Planning to overclock?
A: NOT TRIED BEFORE... But keen on trying it

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Windows 7

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 1 TB IS MORE VALUE FOR MONEY.

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: NEED A FULL HD MONITOR RUNNING ON 1920x1080 RES.(you can ignore this part as we may soon purchase a smart tv)

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 5

A: YES I HAVE BUILT MY DESKTOP ONCE

10. When are you planning to buy the system?

A: YES, THINKING OF SPENDING LESS ON HDD,ADD-ON CARDS ETC ETC AND FOCUS ON PROCESSER AND MOTHERBOARD

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: DVD writer.(Got my old IDE DVD Writer)

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: LIVE IN MUMBAI AND 'M BUYING PARTS FROM LAMINGTON ROAD'S ELECTRONIC MARKET ^^

14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: I JUST WANT A GOOD OVERALL PERFORMER RIG, WHICH IS FUTURE PROOF, UNDER 30000(Plz don't include Graphics card and other enhancement features.JUST NEED TO GET A FUTURE PROOF WORKING PC WITH THE BEST AND VALUE FOR MONEY PARTS)

STILL A NEWBIE TO THE PROCESSER AND MOBO STUFF SO HAVEN't DECIDED ABOUT MOBO and Processor

Yes i'm getting a gpu and other essentials latr
It's just that 've got a tight budget right now so atleast want my foundation to be future-ready. Rest Can be added latr
Till then can survive on the onboard graphics and minimal of everything ^^

Thanx @Manujohn,
I was in dilemma as to pick AMD or Intel
I had Sandybridge in my mind, the one you suggested is good
Rest looks neat and fits my budget :-D

Any suggestions are more then welcome

At your budget Sandy Bridge is the best choice over any AMD processor.
No more suggestions from me.. Happy buying and you are welcome.

Here's mine.

Intel Sandybridge Processor are good & newly released, but it doesn't means AMD processor bad.

Component | Make | Price Processor |AMD Athlon II x4 635|4000
Motherboard |Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H|4000
RAM |G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL9S-4GBRL|2200
Graphic Card |Sapphire HD6850|9500
HDD |Seagate 1TB 7200.12|2700
PSU |FSP Saga II 500W|2100
Case |NZXT Gamma|2000
Mouse |Logitech 3 Button Scroll|300
Keyboard |Logitech KB-200|400
UPS |Numeric 800VA|2500
Speakers |Logitech Z313|1000
| Total |30300

No need to add a GPU later, when the above fits your requirement better.

Yes; its wise to go with Sandybridge, but without any dedicated GPU its not just perfect.

Nop.. Intel's H67 and P67 motherboards are always the best VFM motherboards. Almost all members of TDF are suggesting Intel's motherboards rather than any other brands. So no need to worry about the performance of Intel boards.

Anyway, other alternatives are the following.
Gigabyte GA-H67M-D2-B3 @ Rs.5500
Asus P8H67 MLE @ Rs.6500
MSI H67 MA E35 @ Rs.5200

Thanx but H67 boards can't b oced which i wish to do later
P67 can be oced and it unleashes full potential of i5 2500k but the prob is it has no onboard graphics and not even a single monitor port (no vga, dvi, hdmi).
P67 is the best I can get but it seems costly('m unaware of price of p67 mobo's)
and if i do get it i'll need a temporary Cheapo GPU as well to get display

Better save up some bucks n get the entire rig, rather than spending on a temporary GPU..

The wait will extend as rainy season is coming............
:-(
Nevermind I'll think of something and get something VFM for myself in the end.
Thanx to all you digitians!

Close ur eyes & go for this

Intel Sandy Bridge i5 with Intel H67 PCH
gives owesum performance, also has 10 channel audio supports i.e. 7.1 speaker so its best deal

yes u can save ur little money on cabinet by searching a local brand with 2-3 fans cost approx rs. 800-900, frm tht money u can upgrade ur HDD to 2TB

n :-( u need to increase ur budget for good GPU

Gigabyte GA-H67M-D2-B3 @ Rs.5500

for Intel's Alternative I like only Gigabyte (personal experience)

actually at some point (eg: graphics) it has been proved better than Intel Board

few months ago i was searching for a motherboard replacement for my P4 3.2HT Proc for Installing Win 7 & Play Fifa

i requested & my Lamington dealer gave me for temp (2days) use Intel Board supporting DDR2 RAM (forget model no., will let u know soon with screen preview) approx cost 3500/-

Windows 7 installed successfully but fifa was not running :( so was of no use

i asked my friend he was having Dual Core with MSI board running win 7 but was giving very poor performance for Fifa 10 so drop idea for MSI also

than i purchased Gigabyte Combo Board (which m currently using) supporting DDR3 Ram cost Rs. 2400 in that
Win 7 runs perfect with Fifa 10

Windows 7 Graphics Rate for
Intel Board - 2.8
Gigabyte Board - 3.2

so my personal experience Intel's Alternative is Gigabyte
