Right off the assembly line
Hi..

I have DELL DIMENTION 4700 system which I bought 4 yrs back and it has come with Factory fitted 128 MB ATI Radeon X300SE.

I want to upgrade the GPU now rather than going for a whole new system as I have no issues with other system performance.(Planning to wait till prices of core I-7 based systems drop a bit)

Is it worth upgrading to Palit HD 4670 for the moment ??

Is the card compatible with DELL 915 board based P-IV system ??

Plz advice.
Thx in advance.

Its not on the CPU that the support for g-card depends on - its rather the mobo which decides that!

915 chipset supports x16 PCIE 1.x bus.

So if ur mobo has the PCIE X16 slot it will support a decent pcie g-card.

Also plz some more specs about ur system.

U can add it, but do u think it will be worth it?

I dun think so.

Save up 25-30k, yeah that much by March-April 09, and u'll get a beautiful rig, 19" TFT with a gfx card to give you full settings everything high at 1280x800 if not 1440x900.

Yes, I agree.

It would be benificial to go for a whole new system rather than upgrading components 1 by 1.

Other than DELL (XPS exceeds 80k), do we have other branded options available in India with Core I-7 config ??

Dude go for HD4670....it will not bottleneck ur performance if ur proc. is 3.0ghz ht and u have ample of ram (i assume 2gb)
Because Hd4670 is not that great card (not gt280) that it will bottleneck ur performance
com'on 0~5 fps drop will be negligible based on what resolution u game....!!!
At lower resolution this card is very good...(1280*1024,,,1650*1050,,low-med setting wit AA on)
(i did own this card somtime back)

F* branded configs, wait till March or April and for 80k u'll get Core i7 as well as an uber end gfx card.
