Best Graphics Card for my low power config.

gokranjan

Right off the assembly line
I have the following rig now and I want to get a new graphics card to play games.

Here are the specs:

* Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.0 Ghz
* Mobo: Intel g31 (single pci x16 slot)
* Ram: 2 gb DDR2
* SMPS: 300Watts

My priority was to build a low budget/low power rig initially. Now I saved up for a graphics card. Pls note that I'm not going to throw away the old rig.

I just want to include the graphics card and update the ram/smps as necessary. I have some 10-15 k BUDGET

So Pls share ur :cool:geeky:cool: advice

15K is a good budget and you can get good graphics card and PSU on it.

My suggestion is
Power Color HD 6850 1 GB @ 10.3K
Tagan StoneRock 600W 80+ Certified PSU @ 3.2K to 3.5K.

In Kolkata the price of the TAGAN PSU is 3K. HD 6850 is the best card within 12K and it beats nVidia's offering GTX 460 1 GB Plus this card is a hell of a over clocker.
However your CPU will be bottlenecked to handle either of HD 5770 or HD 6850. So getting a little extra performance, overclock the processor a little.

@gokranjan

Buddy since your cpu will be a bottleneck for a fast card like 6850, i would recommend to sell it of and drop in a core 2 quad q8400 or something. They are retailing below the 6k mark and definitely you will get a huge performance boost.

Fully agreed. Pentium D will be a bottleneck.

abirthedevil, check Starcomp Infotech (10 G.C. Avenue) and M.D. Computers. The price of 3K for the 600W was from Starcomp. Their price is good.
M.D. computer is having very good stock but also higher price. you have to do a lot of bargaining.

Bottlenecks will come in the way so you are nt gong to get the high performance dude. even if you go for a 6850, you'll end up playn low end games only. In 15k I suggest that you SHOULD get a AMD Athlon 2 X3 440 for 4.5k, ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 for 2.5k, GT240 for 4.5k and Corsair VX450 for 3.5k. Hope it is alright

Don't spend so much , just buy
ATI 5670 1 GB - 5.2k
2 GB DDR2 - Rs 1.5k
VX450W / [CX400 if you get it] - 3.5k / [2.5k]

since your CPU is terribly outdated
i would recommend you to get an HD5670@4.5k
don't invest any more on gpu unless you are planning a cpu upgrade too
additionally get another 2gb DDR2 ram@1.7k
and a FSP saga 400w@2k

^^ Go with that.
Get a used C2D(E8400)/C2Q(Q8300/9xxx)

Then pair up with 5x70 based on ur budget, before that make sure you atleast have FSP Saga II 500W(for 5770 and 400W if 5670) or to be on safer side, VX450W.

Another 2Gig of RAM will be good.

@mohiuddin
Do u think he can get both within 15k. Also no use in buying a 6850 for a Dual Core proccy, which bottlenecks like a hell and RAM is just 2GB, which again not so good for smooth gaming.

nope.but, i think getting the 4 core cpu first and after someday ,he can buy 6850 by gathering some more money...bestest budget pc.:rockon:
