I Always Prefer 1080p
Use a 40 Pin IDE Cable and connect it to the motherboard slot.
If you want to add it as a slave, put a jumper.

and how to set your jumper to make the HDD as slave or primary would be given on the HDD itself. You need to follow the instruction. The jumper is set for primary by default.

On Seagate hard disks, not fitting any jumper makes it the slave drive.

If you just want to make sure your computer boots with the SATA drive, it's not really necessary to make the IDE drive slave. You can boot with either of the two HDDs by selecting the boot drive in BIOS.
