1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: General uses of my computer are as follows:-
  1. Watching full HD 1080p movies
  2. Editing photos in photoshop
  3. Doing official work in Mircrosoft Office2010
  4. Doing some programming in eclipse, visual studio
  5. Some time i want to Transfer large recorded video files over the internet. I am mentioning this because my internet connection is very slow. Hence i have to keep my copmuter running for few days with shutting it down and i dont want my comp to get fired in the process.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Strictly 40,000RS. (Budget reduced)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit dual boot with UBUNTU.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Preferable 1 TB. But i can settle with less to fit everything in budget as i have 3 external portable 1 TB HDD.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I want to buy Dell S2240L 21.5 inch LED Backlit LCD Monitor Cost : ₹ 9,440.00

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:Keyboard, Mouse. Already have a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within 2 - 3 months.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Nope i haven't built a desktop before but i am planning to build it on my own.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Delhi. Buying everything online from ebay, flipkart, itdepot etc.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Any points to keep in mind or any good tutorial which any one want to share for a person who is assembling a computer for first time in his life. (please see point 9)

If you are planning to buy within 2 to 3 months then there is no point of having this thread right now. Create a thread maximum 1 month before making the purchase as computer components prices are highly variable and what we suggest now might not be valid when you are actually buying.

Below you'll find a basic structure of the suggested components:-

AMD FX 8320 @ 10K
ECS A-970A-M- DELUX Motherboard @ 5.8K
G-Skill RipjawX 1600 MHz 8GB X 1 1600 MHz DDR3 @ 4.4K
WD Caviar Blue 1 TB HDD @ 4K
NZXT Source 210 Elite Cabinet @ 2.6K
Corsair CX 500 V2 @ 3.4K
Gigabyte HD 7770

2 - 3 months is maximum time. I want to get it as soon as possible. And Thank you very much for your valued opinion

If i opt for AMD FX 8350. will the stock cooler suffice or i should go for a third party cooler?

ECS A-970A-M- DELUX Motherboard does not have any usb 3.0 headers. Hence i cant get any usb 3.0 ports in front panel. Kindly suggest a mother board which has at least one usb 3.0 header.

MSI 970A-G43 Motherboard has one usb 3.0 header. Can i go for it? or should i look for another Board. Plese suggest

@cilus: the graphic card you have suggested requires pci e 3.0 but motherboard does not have PCIE 3.0. So doesnt it will just westage of higher end graphics card by putting it in a slower slot?

May be i should go with DDR3 Graphics card ?? as most of ddr5 graphics requires PCIE 3.0.

@bavusani : The board you suggested is indeed good but i cant understand its improvement over MSI 970A-G43 Motherboard (5000 RS) keeping price in mind.

Thank you very much for this suggestion. This surly look promising. Although i just posted a rough configuration in OP but that is not final. i will do some research on the configuration you suggested. Also i want to ask the same question to you which i have already asked before.

what i can see from this page, Aus MOBO you suggested have PCIE 2.0 slot but the Sapphire HD7770 1GB is based on PCI E 3.0, so can this mobo fully utilize this Graphics card performance?? does there will be a compatibility issue??

All the PCI-E versions are backward compatible with their older versions. So don't worry about it and there is no real world performance difference in PCI-E 3.0 and PCI-2.0 performance now, both in terms of gaming ans well as compute.

Due to some reason my budged got reduced to less or equal to 40 K strictly not one panny extra. So i removed playing games from my requirements. The best configuration i can thought up withing 40 k is using an APU.
Processor: AMD A10-5800K Rs. 8,480.00
Cabinet: Cooler Master Elite 371 USB 3.0 Version Mid Tower Computer Case (RC-371-KKN3) Rs. 2,845.00
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9) Rs. 3,064.00
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA Internal Desktop Hard Drive (ST1000DM003) Rs. 4,189.00
Monitor: Dell S2240L 21.5 inch LED Backlit LCD Monitor Rs. 9,440.00
PSU: Corsair VS550 550 Watt PSU Rs. 3,485.00
Motherboard: MSI FM2-A85XMA-E35 32GB DDR3 AMD Motherboard Rs. 5,655.00
Optical Drive: Optical Drive: LG 24x Sata Internal DVD Writer Rs. 1,065.00
Fan 140mm: Cooler Master 140mm Blue LED Silent Fan (R4-L4S-10AB-GP) Rs. 655.00
Fan 120mmX2 Cooler Master 120 SI3 Blue LED (2 in 1) Cooler Rs. 772.00
TOTAL: Rs. 39,650.00

But again as i am noob in selecting configuration i am counting on you guys to get me most powerful PC within 40000 RS. Please suggest if it is good to go or i can get something better within 40000 price.

The choice of PSU is real bad. Get at least CX seires PSU from Corsair. Alos I am not going to recommend an Trinity based APU now as the upgrade path will be closed for you.

Try the following:-
FX-6300 @ 7.1K
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 @ 3.7K
Corsair CX500 V2 @ 3.3K
Sapphire HD 6670 1GB DDR3 @ 4.6K SAPPHIRE HD6670 1GB DDR3 128-bit 6670 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Graphic Card

@Cilus : after searching i found the indeed my choice of PSU was bad. I will go with one you suggested.

If i go with fx6300 & i want to leave my pc in running condition downlaoding / uploading files for 2 to 3 days, will i need a third party cooler or the stock one is enough??

About motherboard, MSI970A-G43 costs 1k more than GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 but it is full atx and has sata 6Gbps. So is not gain is good with respect to 1k more pricing?

This whole setup look as below

So the total budget cross 40 K if i go wit this config. Will it give me more performance than the APU config ??

^^ That MSI motherboard has very poor Voltage Regulation Module or VRM design. Google it and you will find hundreds of complain about it. If you can spend 1K then get the Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 motherboard or ECS A970MA Delux motherboard @ 5.5K

GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 was very good but it doesnt have sata 6GBPS port. Thats why i wanted to change it. the above two motherboards are good but doesnt have onboard usb 3.0 headers. i want at least one usb 3.0 ports on front. After a lot of searching on internet online stores i found this ASUS motherboard (Asus M5A97LE-R2.0 32GB DDR3 AMD Motherboard) which has USB 3.0 header on board and have sata 6GBPS. Is this ASUS MOBO is good??

SATA 6.0 Gbps = 768MBps
SATA 3.0 Gbps = 384MBps

So even most of SSD's would be happy with SATA 3.0 so for a normal HDD no matter.
No idea of mobo tho.. Go for Cilus's suggestion.
