Surelly Core i7 too can be oced, but the price diff b/w a PII 720 and Core i7 are like and and elephant. i7 costs more than double.

I think all of you guys are forgetting a thing. Not all proc will oc same even if they are from same series. It's the batch number of proc that's very important while buying a proc for OCing - IMO.

When companies launch their procs at first their price stays much higher. Those procs OCs really well. Most of the benchmarks on the sites use the earlier released version of procs. But after that when they slash the price the lower priced procs just doesn't oces like their earlier counterparts.

And I've read in some magazine that only phenom 2 940 reaches 3.7GHz stable at air cooling.

xbitlabs has done oc by raising the cpu clock to 266 from 200 wityh multiplier at default 14 while in other site, they kept everythin at default and just shooted multi to 22x.

i think with a better combination and finer tweaks they cud've achieved more.
