The processor you've purchased is actually Athlon II X3 430, not Athlon X3. This is an AM3 based processor and all the AM3 processors are backward compatible with AM2+ socket. So you can plug the processor in your motherboard without any problem. One thing, you may need a BIOS update of the motherboard for detecting the AM3 processors, if latest BIOS is not present in the mobo.
AM3 is backward compatible.
But always check if the mobo's TDP is sufficient.
I got p955 and some mobo with 90tdp, and ended up with 800mhz processor speed.
Should I use the VGA or DVI connect coz i already have a VGA monitor and dont want to spend more..By the way watz the difference between the 2 connections?
