so i want to buy an am2 or am2+ board which can support this 95w cpu

I have bought a Biostar TA785GE mobo
i also have an AMD Athlon X3 440.
The mobo has an AM2+ socket while the Processor has an AM3 socket.
Can i fit the processor onto the mobo??

I have AM2+ mobo. Asus M2n32SLI Deluxe and i am looking for an upgrade. My CPU has become bottleneck for gaming.

From what I have read on various websites, I have concluded that
1. Any AMD's AM3 socket CPUs such as Phenom II X4 CPUs will work without any problem on AM2+ socket-based motherboards.
2. AM2+ socket-based CPUs will not work on AM3 socket-based mobos.
Am I right ? Just confirming.

Looks like this BUDGET to MID-range motherboard chipset will be Good & future proof for a long time for users of AMD + nVidia graphic cards. :cool:
I'm currently running Intel P4 , 3.2Ghz HT Single core CPU but I was thinking that for the price of upgrading to a dual or even Quad core- I could probably get the equivilent in AMD and the MOBO for it at the same price(roughly) So.... is it worth me sticking with my socket 775 Intel mobo and...
