A Rig for graphic designing & TV Recording

Hello Guys,

I am in search for a new PC. I already have a basic one (Pentium Dual Core) which serves my Photoshop needs. But for new PC, I am looking for some other tasks as well. These are

1) Basic Graphic Design: Brochure, Flyers, web design layouts etc. Will use PHOTOSHOP CS5. NO high end graphic design work like flex or sign boards.
2) TV Recording- Having a TV tuner card and capture HD video[1080 or 720P] from TV like HD cricket matches.
3) Heavy Internet usage. Multiple browser windows open at same time.

I already have LG 23" Full HD monitor, mouse and keyboard. So don't need these.

My budget is between 25k to 30k.

Kindly suggest a rig for it including best internal TV tuner.

Also if possible, I will look to buy individual parts from online store like flipkart. Can you give the direct link of each component if available. Also any other reliable store like flipkart?

Thank You
deep

Good Intel CPU + mobo will overshoot your budget by a good 10-15k..:-D

Further you have been suggested a :twisted:Hexa core:twisted: CPU which will be far better for graphic designing & multi threaded operations.. So get this rig widout doubt..

Are you using HDMI in Tata Sky HD? Does tata Sky HD use HDCP + HDMI?

I've got AverMedia AverTV Capture HD H727 (link) which costs a "good" Rs. 7,000 on Flipkart last time I checked.

This has HDMI - Input and it can also *show* HDCP protected stream. (not record) Only unprotected HDMI can be recorded.

AverMedia's software/driver won't allow the recording of HDCP protected streams. Example, from PlayStation 3. I don't know if Tata Sky's STB gives out HDCP protected stream via HDMI or not.

If the input stream via HDMI is HDCP protected, then what you'll have to do is - use a third party recorder which records your screen. Some people use FRAPS.

Apparently this guy here has posted cracked drivers which might support HDCP recording with my card. [TUTORIAL] Capture Avermedia capture HD H727 PS3 HDCP HDMI Drivers - YouTube I haven't tried out because I don't have a PS3 or any other HDCP source.

-----

If you're using Component with your Tata Sky HD STB, then you'll not have any problem.

i5 2320 @ 11500
Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2H Motherboard @ 3200
Corsair 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Ram @ 1200
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA II @ 4100
Normal Big Cabinet W/O SMPS @ 800-1000
Corsair CX 430 V2 @ 2300
APC 600VA UPS @ 2000
Avermedia AverTV Hybrid Volar HD H830 USB 2.0 @ 2400
Dvd Drive @ 1000
I borrowed everything from Cilus's rig, I just added decent i5 and a motherboard.
Your usage doesnt suggest gaming so I removed the gfx, Anyone here can suggest him some 3-4k Card

The total without card = 28500

If its just light Photoshop, you will rarely need a discreet card at all.. :)

Thank You Chaitanya, I will defiantly consider AMD.

Frankly, I have no idea. I just plan to record HD from my Tata sky. My friend is doing it so I guess its possible. The TV tuner card you have mentioned is quite expensive. Any alternatives? Have you tried recording from HD channels yourself?

Thank You for intel rig. Can I order all these components from Flipkart and give it to my local assembler? Would this make sense?

Just ask him how he connects the STB to his TV Tuner.

If it's component or Composite, then there is NO issue. If it's HDMI + HDCP, then there is an issue.

It's Component/Composite....whatever the interface Tata Sky STB has at back. That's why he has been able to do it easily.

I would ask you to skip Flipkart or any online store.
And first ask a local seller.
1. It will give you better deals. (Personal Experience)
2. He will assemble it for no charge

Keep the flipkart prices in mind, if he asks for more, ask him to skip that component and order it online.. :)
