Democracy is a myth
As u've "deleted" the previous dos partition, windows won't recognize it and wont show it to you.
To get back the lost space follow the steps:-
1>Right Click on "My Computer" icon on desktop
2> Click "Manage"
3>In the opened window, go to Storage>Disk Management.
4> Here u'll be able to c the deleted partition as <raw> or <new> or <unpartitioned> (I've forgot exact term showed here. But, its not NTFS or FAT)
5> Select that partition and select Format
6> In format as select NTFS/FAT as u like.

Bas u r done.
