Hi Guys.
Well, my friends old pc died a few weeks back and he needs to buy a new one soon, preferably this month itself.
1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A:Browsing- Youtube
Desktop Processing
Occasional Movies
2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A:yes
3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 10 -14k (Can be pushed to 15k if it's really worth it otherwise closer to 10k the better.)
4. Planning to overclock?
A:no
5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Windows (XP or Win7) and Linux (Fedora 16 or Ubuntu). Dual boot is a must.
6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: Will use an 80gb IDE hdd for the time being. Thus mobo should have a ide port.
7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: !9 inch Lcd.
8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A:5
9. Have you ever or will this be done by an assembler?
A: Assembler most probably
10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: Before the end of the month
11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: Unrealistic
12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: KB/Mouse -
Monitor - 19 inch
Speakers
PSU - A recently purchased 450 rupee intex psu. Unless a better FSP/Corsair PSU is required.
Hdd- IDE HDD
13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: Mumbai/online retailer depending on the deal.
14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: Note: As mentioned earlier the Motherboard should have an IDE port for my old HDD. Would onboard graphics be needed?
Parts needed:
CPU - Amd or Intel. Whichever is the best value at this price point. Is the Athlon II x2 series still the best bet?
Motherboard - Should have an IDE port for my old Hard drive. (Since new Hdd prices have skyrocketed)
GPU - Onboard?
RAM - 4gb is required. Should I go for 1 stick or 2 sticks of 2gb?
Case -
Dvd writer
Spikeguard- Belkin or any other quality brand
PSU- Unless a recently purchased 450 rupee intex psu will suffice
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
