We all expecting AMD’s first native quad core processor, now the AMD says their first 45nm native quad core codenamed Deneb and Deneb FX will be native socket AM3, work as DDR3.

According to AMD’s roadmap , even the 790FX chipset, which will be released in 2009, is using Socket AM2+(Socket 940), it’s a bit diffiuclt for people to dump AM2+ mobo immediately, so AMD decided to let Deneb and Deneb FX fit the AM2+ interface. The most interesting thing is, when you plug the Deneb and Deneb FX in a socket AM2+ port, these native AM3 processors will Automatic work as DDR2!

This will be very convenient as it will make transition easier. This will be the first time after many years that AMD has decided to make an easy upgradeable CPU environment. In the past when AMD changed the memory support that would mean a new motherboard and a new CPU but this time moving to DDR3 will require a new motherboard but the same CPU will work in your old DDR2 socket AM2+ board and the new DDR3.

Personally i really enjoy this.

yeah great news ... Intel doesnt make native quad cores presently isnt it?... Arent the penryns 2 dual cores glued together???

AMD is going on the right track once again. The one and only thing they still need is to increase their clock to clock performance against intel. Otherwise, their Phenoms are no longer being codenamed AMD "Moron". Phenom X3 8750 seriously competes against E7200.
