Microsoft had evaluated hotmail at dollar 150 million but Sabeer bhatia got 400 m dollar after negotiation. The same may be the case here. Yahoo may want more. But I don't want to see Yahoo being taken over by Microsoft.

just bcos Yahoo!'s board has rejected Ms's offer means nothing actually

MS can always approach the shareholders directly and convince them to buy the shares from them and become the single largest shareholder

survival of the fittest d00d

just bcos u or me like or dislike sumthin means zilch unless v have d mite 2 enforce it

mite is right!!!!

the merger opens a huge amount of locked possibilities for us the consumer; live is now becoming an integrated part of windows OS and that is what MS is trying to achieve Live is becoming an extension of Windows OS with yahoo along with MS a lot of us wont have to handle multiple ids and accounts as separate identities just like the whole microsoft website network can be accessed using the same hotmail account a merger with yahoo would mean something similar the ease of using Flickr or our yahoo accounts and even the yahoo finances, if 1 sees yahoo and MS Live have almost everything overlapping which makes the integration of services for the consumer simpler. chances are this merger will happen and then we will have some really solid competition in the online space as opposed to google's monopoly. MS already owns a huge part of facebook (orkut) utube (msnvideo service) and now the new yahoo live service all of this will definitely help us as we wont have to have separate accounts to use flickr and separate accounts to use youtube we will have better alternatives and ease of use as it will integrate with windows itself

Guys, all the news sources report it as Yahoo 'to reject' Microsoft offer. So the official news will be confirmed on Monday by Yahoo. So you will have to wait for the official confirmation. Maybe they can / they won't change their mind.

The cake is a lie!!!
I read in papers that this is going to be done to force MS to shell out more money. I dont exactly remember but there was also something abt google crying foul and appealing to anti-trust courts to counter the takeover. If successful it would be good for google and even if not, it would buy an year's time during which google wil be able to formulate a strategy to counter the joint services offered by both orgs.

IMHO the possibilites are great and the users wil greatly benefit frm the take over.

The last people to benefit will be the users. Whether the companies will benefit or not is debatable but it is almost a given that the users are gonna suffer.
