Spring for Galaxy S5 from iPhone5?

Hi, I have the iPhone5 and I love what I have, but the S5 seems pretty awesome too. I really love iPhone, but in the meantime I don’t want to get too attached to it, so I am thinking of springing for a phone with the capability of replacing extended batteries. I do feel more secure holding my friend’s S4 with his mpj extended battery.
To be fair, is it worth the switch from iPhone5 to Galaxy S5?

I saw a friend using a case for his iP5S with a battery inbuilt. I'm sure you can find it for your phone too.

I think it is too early to switch from an iPhone 5 already.

FNot sure about the extended battery, but I recently switched back to Android after 2 year(4s and a 5 in those years) and using a Nexus 5 now...sure do miss the fantastic camera of iPhone, but N5 is a seriously good phone with an above average camera and rather decent battery life...no doubt Android has come a long way(at least the Nexus has...not so sure about S4/S5 or G2 though)
...ohh...first post after about couple of years..

Welcome back and indeed N5 is really good. I am so glad to have made the right choice in switching to N5 from Note II (the size was the issue). Now the peace of handling the phone with 1 hand + the raw power is keeping me delighted

yeah actually nexus series is the only worthwile android imho
i also had a note 2 and a note 1 but they both felt very half baked, the screen etc were excellent but poor build quality, software issues etc forced me to move on
nexus on the other hand is a great buy hands down
iphones are good but feel limited sometimes, unless the user is someone like me and jailbreaks it
android may have more devices but only a handful are worth it
i have both idevices and nexus devices and i must say i love the nexus series as they feel very very smooth and very comparable to my idevices, only thing i sorta miss is an sd card slot but thats k as long as it has otg support or large enough memory(inbuilt storage) :)
though i prefer a regular ipad (9.7 inch one) to a large screen android tablet such as nexus 10

@ OP : You really are NOT comparing iPhone 5 with S5 right? If you are then

Now is it worth to switch from an iPhone 5 to S5, more than anything else, anything. There is a huge advantage of iPhones though, they sell at a pretty good price, so you might get pretty good price for it, and make the switch. However I won't advice buying S5 at 50k, wait till the price falls somewhere around 41 / 42k, which is not long from now.

Now if the question were is it worth buying an S5 from an S4? No, cause the upgrades or given features are very minimum. But from iPhone 5? Well, I will say even Nokia 720 is an 'upgrade' from it.

PS : If I were you I would wait till Nokia 930 launches. From iOS to WP, might be a better option than from iOS to Android.

lol ur comment was both good and bad
i wouldnt buy a samsung at all , given their poor quality and comparing it to a 720 or some other windows phone is valid but calling iphones inferior to samesung is ,i hope, an april fools joke on ur part
+1000000 for 930 but -1000000 for calling iphones inferior to samsung galaxy s4 and s5
iphones and windows phones have much much better quality than samsung
given that i have had iphones upto 4s and note 1 and note 2 previously and now a 720 and 820 , id say 930 is worth the wait and iphones are much much better than samsung phones
as for nexus 5 its a different story altogether and nexus's,iphone's and windows phones cannot be compared since all 3 are great imho and all work as advertised and give excellent service too

ive had samsung not giving me warranty on a tv(notorious bad capacitor problem),note 2(infamous camera issue) and a laptop as well which had overheating issues thanks to poor build quality and finally it got bricked within 2 months when i tried to install linux on it(another well known issue) which they refused to help with and i ended up selling all three

apple on the other hand gives decent service through resellers such as mapple india and unicorn and i had my 4s replaced once when my home button broke(may have been my fault) but they replaced it no questions asked at all

nokia also has excellent service, the camera button on my 820 became a bit tight in just 2 months of usage and still worked but i still took it to nokia care and they replaced the shell for me under warranty even though it was my fault(i used to press the button too hard)

my mom bought a nexus 7 2012 edition 32gb which had one of the '' bleeding light'' panels and asus replaced that on the same day and sent someone to my home for the exchange

keep in mind , this is my opinion which i have developed after having a hands on with products of each company :)

incase u dont believe my word for it , google each of the problems i listed and ull see the truth :)

Good, for you.

My comment was based on my experience too, which I have gained for past one decade. The amount I spent on mobile phones only will buy a new diesel Civic

I don't comment on any products I haven't used personally. So yes, I have used iPhone 5S for one week. Course I didn't waste my money behind that.....object. But exchanged my S4 with colleague's iP 5S, THE WORST one week of my techy life in this 26 years. Whatever, I ain't interested in going to full details and all that. I was an Apple fan until 2010, and I kept bashing Samsung whenever I got the chance, now I feel very ashamed for that. When people say iPhone is better than Samsung S4 / S5, I honestly have no idea what definition of 'better' they read in school, I must have missed that. The only reason I was an Apple / iPhone admirer because of it's build quality, but then after seeing there are seven Apple products under top 10 fragile devices of the world, that was it. Yes, when you hold the iPhone it certainly feels better than an S4 / S5, cause it's at least metal / glass in comparison with ultra cheap and disgusting plastic. But that's it. I ain't paying some 45k for some gimmicky phone, which can do NOTHING but make you a prisoner of that brand. Ultra Rubbish. iOS is a JOKE in comparison with Android :| An out of box iPhone is an infant in comparison with an out of box Android (and you don't even need a top of line Android for this) :| A jailbroken iPhone with Cydia is NOTHING in front of a simply rooted Android (with stock kernel, let alone custom ones) :| Apple's Map is GARBAGE in comparison with G-Maps :| That IPS screen in comparison with S4's OLED is like comparing a Toyota with a Ferrari, and so on, so on, I can keep typing.

All in all, I don't care. iOS is the childish OS I have ever used. If I need some amateur OS why would I bother to pay a premium price? Windows Phone is simple too, and costs how many times less than iOS again? Then Android, the above paragraph will tell you that I might be an Android fan, now let me tell you, I am not, actually I loathe the OS. All those Lags, Force Closes, poor optimization regardless of strong hardware are a disgrace. I run a business, I need a stable phone, not some geeky nonsense. Have been using it for past five years all right, but that's simply there's no better OS available! Symbian was good, DIED. Bada was nice DIED. Meego was good, DIED. WebOS was nice, DIED. Now when I am seeing the WP is getting more and more polished I am so excited. However I won't make the move as of yet. It does need a little bit more maturity.

Apple might convince mostly dumb Americans who points out China as Australia, or think Indians are actually Arabians or somehow related, or can't name a country with U, but even if they shoot me in the head, I won't use another sodding iPhone again in my life.

i agree with u to the point that the 4s has a terrible glass back design and that iphones are more of a fad these days and are used to show off how wealthy someone is but i disagree about samsung being better than an iphone , windows phone yes it has its issues but overall its a much better phone
android requires too much tinkering around to get simple things done though(roms, rooting etc)
i dont love iphones as such but i hate samsung for sure,i was a loyal customer and each product has given me trouble(except got my samsung ac which touch wood works fine)
btw ur points other than the samsung ones are exactly what i feel!! well written!! :)

i wouldnt go for an iphone again either (prefer my 720 and 820) but in tablets nothing beats ipads!!ive had every ipad right from ipad 2 to ipad 5 and my android tablets except for my nexus 7 are just lying around unused

If I were given an option between iPad and Android tablets, undoubtedly I will go for an iPad. However my personal choice is Surface any day.
Whatever, both iOS and Android can frak off now.

Let us wait for the OP to come back and update us with his status.

There is no merit in discussing if Android or iOS is better since it always mostly boils down to personal choice. We will have to wait and see what the OP requires before suggesting any device.

I however do feel it is too early to upgrade from an iPhone 5 yet.

Let's not get carried away here.

The N720 is a decent phone but can only be compared to an iPhone 4 maybe. WinMo is still lagging behind iOS and Android. I couldn't replace my aging android with the N720 and had to give it away after a brief use.

if u feel lack of apps i will just laugh like hell,wp doesnt have a lack of apps, it has much better quality apps than android
ios is great but its better on the ipad than on any other device

Yeah, let the OP decide. But at this moment, anyone having 35k+ cash, undoubtedly I will recommend the Lumia 930. I don't know how could I hold my patience till June though :|

However, once again, Samsung has taken them ahead in the display race, the ONLY reason I stuck with Samsung so far, and the S5 is gonna rule for some time,

God knows why the hell Sony / Panasonic doesn't come up with OLED display of theirs! They are just letting Samsung play, without any rivalry :|

actually the 930 and HTC One M8 have better displays than the Galaxy S5

only drawbacks of 930 is the lack of an sd card slot but 32gb is great i guess and the glance screen is no longer available on certain lumias like the 930 :( despite this its a great phone :)

That's even great then. You just made these long two months even more longer.

Only thing I will miss from S4 will be the LED notifier and a call recording app. And maybe a Sony sensor, however heard good things about the Zeiss one. Lack of SD card is no biggie for me at all, people just trying to create a nuisance, Android and iOS fanboys especially :|
