How to choose speakers?

I see the Driver first, the material used,Voice coil size, suspenders, and the Cabinet construction. Then I check the Crossover design, Sensitivity, Ohms and Long Term power handling (watts ) .

Just type these terms and google.

No offence, but I believe that was a too technical answer for a simple question. This portion of answer could have arrived at later stages after you know how much OP is into these things. Nevermind. :)

--------------------------

@OP- Some quick points from my side:

1) Don't look at PMPO (stated in watts) which people normally do.

2) So what should you look for ? First thing you should look for is RMS which actually tells you the raw power of that speaker.

3) See the build quality of the speaker. Cheap plastics should be avoided at any cost. The implication, a good sub is always on the heavier side. Not to generalise, but yeah, it is mostly true.

4) Look for the quality of the wires and connectors. Cheap wires & connectors result in loss of quality during audio signals transmission. For connectors (cords), look for gold plating if available or as best as possible.

There are other points to be considered (obviously much more technical), which others can help you to deal with.

Good luck.

You could also loot at the frequency response graph. The flatter, the better.

The question not simple buddy. Any person with interest will google a term or two from post and get it across if he genuinely has interest.

The first thing he should look at is not at all RMS ,why? He should first check whether he likes the sound, that is the tonal quality and then comes power handling and then comes measuring it in root mean square. Now the Tonal quality is very dependent on the materials used to make the drivers in that enclosure, eg soft dome tweeter or Metal, aluminium cone or doped paper.

Next Gold plating is best avoided because of oxidization problems in lower end stuff not done properly. Now why gold? Because its pure ,now how many actually uses 24K for plating and what gauge ,its all that matter just gold dosnt mean good sound.

When you are explaining wires ,dont do it like that.Get in to details. Good wires mean purest of Copper, proper shielding to cancel EMF and simply thick wires to avoid resistance.

Namaste!
I want to know dat how to choose speakers? What to look out for mainly while chking d specs?

Is it a theoretical question or are you really planning to buy one? If you are planning to buy please tell us your budget, intended use and your source.
