. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:
Home NAS Server for networking storage
( especially media server)
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:40k but can streatch upto 45k

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:no

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:Windows 8 pro

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:9 TB( first my thought was 12TB but then i realize in this budget 12TB not possible)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:NO

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:KB,MICE.
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:FOR HOME NETWORK STORAGE

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:YES

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Kolkata . yes Absolutely.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: CAN I GET A SSD IN THIS BUDGET , AND HOW TO MAKE IT DLNA SUPPORTED

Get the gigabyte b75 @4k and get the CM elite 310@1.8k and it will be inside the budget. And @harshilsharma , is 8gb ram necessary for a nas server?? Won't 4gb be sufficient ??

I included an 8 Gb ram considering the scenerio where the NAS would be streaming multiple HD movies to multiple devices simultaneously. I forgot about a wi-fi card, so opting for Gigabyte B775M DH3 and CM Elite 310 will save some cash for a good wireless card :)

@OP: why do you want to use Win 8 for an NAS? Go for FreeNAS.

what distro should i use, do u think linux mint will be a nice option?& can u recommend me a blu ray drive rather than a dvd drive because i have a small amount of blu ray collection.

For the pci e wireless card, get one of the below two,

D-Link DWA-525 Wireless N 150 Desktop Adapter Network Nic - D-Link: Flipkart.com

Or

TP-LINK TL-WN781ND 150Mbps Wireless PCI Express Network Nic - TP-LINK: Flipkart.com

Go for freenas , it is the best distro of media servers and nas boxes. Plus , it's FREE! A standard edition of windows 8 will cost around 6k, won't it?? Go for freenas

but i have no previous experience with BSD, SO IS THERE ANY PROBLEM IF I USE OPENFILER AS IT IS BASED ON LINUX.

^a4 's cpu performance is not so good.

THEN WHAT ABOUT FX 4100

ok i am going with this rig & the d-link network card which you have mentioned but pls i need a blu ray driver.

Regarding your blu ray drive :-

LiteOn iHBS312 Blu-ray Burner Internal Optical Drive - LiteOn: Flipkart.com

It is 6.6k, so you will have to modify harshil's config to be in budget.
