Hi,
Guys i recently went to Spice Retail Outlets in Indirapuram,Ghaziabad to exchange my old nokia c7 and buy either Xperia-SL or P depending on the price they were willing to pay for my old phone.

I was shocked to know that , from their sales guy, Xperia-P,S,SL have been dis-continued from 1st week of March and thus they don't have it.

When i told them that nearby Croma is having it, they said that Croma must be having old stock and to sell it they are not telling you the truth.

Unfortunately,i had to buy HTC 8s as i had a limited budget and no other vendor takes back old phones.

Today, i decided to query Sony India as to why these phones were dis-continued when no new phone has been launched to replace it.

To my shock, they replied that none of these phones were dis-continued and can be bought online from their e-store.

I really don't want to got their shop now or in future, coz i really don't know how will control my temper....

I feel cheated into buying something which was not even on my list of choices and now i come to know that i could have bought my fav phone...

1- You should have at least goggled about the current status of those mobiles.
2- You were out to buy a droid but ended up buying a WP :-?
3- Try what theserpent said (Not sure whether it'll work or not)

One must never listen to what these shopkeepers as they tend to sold only what they have in stock.
A friend of mine recently bought a HTC One S(less than a month back) from a spice showroom for 25k, I was shocked how they could charge so huge for a phone which was retailing for around 22-23k

Well they were half right and half wrong.

Xperia SL and P are out of production and there is no supply any more. So all you get is existing old stock.

But that old stock is still plenty. And it's not "officially discontinued"

So.......... well. You should have asked in other shops :(

As i said, if not for the exchange thing, i would have brought it from croma. Sony guys are not co-operating on the issue. My emails have not been replied after that and call center person told me that complaint would be forwarded.

@theserpent : Bro, we live in India, don't we? As you know, as soon as the product is purchased......you are asked to contact the CC for every problem. There's no use fighting with them now. I am not going to purchase any mobile from them now, and i am sharing my experience with friends and relatives.

@pratyush : I did do a thorough research.......but what can one do, if the shop-keeper decides to fool the customer?

@shreymittal : Had gone to shipra mall, no use, same reply.

@aroraanant : Hehee, the croma store near my home is saying one-s is no longer available in market....:-D

Sadly, customers are fooled this way whether your buying a grocery item or electronics. There's nothing we can do in india to stop this. I can go and fight with the shop-keeper , but we all know nothing would come out of it.

This is not a falt of Sony but Spice.

TBH, most of the mobile retail shops, croma, Ezone lacks basic knowledge about the stuffs they are selling [not all, but few are quite knowledgeous]. So end customer [you or me or all] have to do some homework before a purchase.

This is true..
OP, you have made mistake as well.. by not researching about the particular phone before buying.. if you are gonna buy a phone, you should have atleast searched online stores about it for price/availability

Yeah. That's really your fault. If you are out to buy something don't depend on Store Salesman for information. Do your own research and just told them to get what you want. If they try making stories, move to next shop.

Though I'm not shocked about the thing, as I recently bought my Lumia 620 from Spice Retail Outlet. And all of the salesman were wearing WP T-Shirts. And I was sure I'd buy Lumia 620 but still I wanted to have a look at Xperia U just to see how it feels. And they started giving me long lectures about comparing Xperia U Vs Lumia 620. So I guess it's their marketing strategy, may be some WP Campaign is going on or something.

So I moved on and tested both the device (live devices) at Mobile Store and back to Spice to get Lumia 620. As they offered me lowest price for Lumia and the highest price for my Optimus One.

Before buying something, you should visit max. shops you can to check out offers and the price. (Lowest For New One and Highest for Old One in case of exchanging) And get from the one which is offering best also calculating the distance of shop from your house etc.

Clearly OP is at fault here. One should do thorough search including comparative prices and availability before going to a neighborhood store and buy a device.
OP could have sold his existing phone here or some other forum instead of selling to the spice shop.

I just bought a new fridge 190 liter and i searched in reliance digital, chroma and vijay sales. The chroma guy did not have the fridge in stock so he told me that particular model is discontinued. It was clear from his face he was blatantly lying and was pushing me samsung, electrloux and in house chrome models. I just went away and found the fridge i wanted in Vijay sales and for 800 Rs less than reliance digital.
Research work does help.

Btw personally if i have drilled down on a phone and am sure that i am gonna buy only that one, i would just not buy any other random phone impromptu in the shop.
