How to repair and restore registry files if missing?

I think while trying to clean up space for the C drive I have messed up with some registry files for sure, some might have been deleted. Today I was playing Fifa and some other basic games and PC froze twice and rebooted once. It's freezing for other simple tasks too. So I think it's better to repair/restore some registry files if they are missing and make my Windows clean and on right track again. Now what application shall I use? I know there are HUGE numbers of crap apps out there, like Registry Mechanic and this and that. But I need a good and efficient tool which will do the job nicely.
So any suggestions? It'd be much appreciated.

Thanks in adv.

Saurav.

If you have accidentally deleted any of the registry keys, I don't think any app can help you in this scenario except system restore. Registry cleaners and likewise apps just clean out the "extra" registry entries missed out due to whatsoever reasons.

Alright, I was thinking about restoring but as I have never done that I am not sure how to do it. And what would it do, restore it to a specific date, if yes, how do I chose that date? Besides, I am not sure if I have deleted any registry keys.

System restore is a child's play. Just proceed with "Restore". You will be offered different restore "points" available. Choose a point (named by an event, eg- "Installed AVG", etc ) where you think your system was working perfectly. It'll restore your system with all the settings/apps installed to that "point". Any other files won't be affected. But move any important files from C: just for safety.

PS: Registry keys sometimes can be messed by some notorious apps.

Fantastic, I must have deleted the the restore points previously. Nothing found. Now what should I do? Try repairing? Will that delete data's and settings?

You should NEVER delete last few restore points. :(

Try:

Code:
sfc /scannow
(this may ask to insert win DVD)

Repairing should be last option as it will reset all the settings. Data won't be affected.

Ran that command and it said 'Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations'. I have already tried a repair but it couldn't complete as C drive needs to have minimum 15 GB space. This is the worst day.

Not possible to clear up another 10 GB or more space buddy, especially when majority of files are system.

Everything was messed up. Had to do a clean install. Still, after installing problems are there sometimes. That Nvidia kernel and driver unresponsiveness is nonsense.

Anyway, Please CLOSE this thread.
