I am looking at options to buy any of the above for my cousin who is a disabled person suffering from Muscular Dystrophy.

Price should be reasonable.

Any suggestion

Ipad 2 is the first thing that comes to my mind. the most user friendly of all devices out there, i believe.

You could go for the Ipad 3, but IMO not really worth the price hike for this particular purpose.

Then there are also Android tablets like this samsung

And this Blackberry playbook.

Ok, he wants to have functions as in the Windows PC which he has right now. But he wants to use this one on the bed and doesn't want to move around.

Seems like Android won't be useful, then ??

would have been infinitely better if budget was mentioned. I think you should give a tablet.

functions as in Windows pc he has? Will he be able to use the small keys of a net book?

Less than 30k.

Yes, he wants to use MS Office, make calls, send emails, browse internet for long hours, etc. He uses the Thumb, Index finger, Middle finger on his PC.

will a 15 inch laptop be a problem? Have a look at this Samsung RV Series RV513-A02IN Laptop: Flipkart.com: Compare, Review Samsung Notebook
Good battery according to reviews there. And will also save you lots of money from total budget too :)

Please note, it needs to be light weight.

Wait for the windows 8 tablets IMO. they are coming up somewhere in september i hear.

You'll get all your familiar applications and in a tablet form.

I agree, right now ipad 2 wud be the most user friendly... Trust me ios is very responsive to the slightest touch... And for ms office there are various apps in the itunes store, however no calling support... I know some android tabs support calling, but i dont recommend looking at your cousins situation... Apple tabs are the least prone to failure... So the best bet for your bro...

Thanks for the response. :)

Can you let me know the price ? Isn't IPad2 outdated model ?

yes Ipad 2 is not the newest model, but trust me, the newer model doesn't not really have any features that are important here. You'll end up paying a significantly more amount with no real benefits. Ipad 2 right now comes at about 23.5k for the 16gb wifi variant.

Price probably will take a dip once the Ipad 3 becomes available by April end. So wait until May.

ipad 2 is not outdated however the ipad 3 does not have any significant improvements either and definitely not worth the moolah... ipad 2 should be available for around 24-25k online. And i dont think so that the ipad 3 will be released anytime soon in India and even if it does dont expect the ipad 2 prices to drop significantly... you may consider getting it now...

I guess I pad 2 will be good option here
plus you can install Siri to get the most out of it
It'll surely help as the tasks can be performed via voice commands

Siri can be installed on IPad 2:
