How many of you read books and do you think about a kindle

Hi all
I am currently thinking about making a books sharing website and wondering if it is even intelligent to launch one in India.
My main concerns is as some people are telling me that not many people in India read books and those who do would soon switch to a kindle. So there is not much point in launching a books sharing website.

What do you guys think ?
For those who don't know A kindle costs 7500 in India right now and its price could drop to 2000-3000 in the coming years. Its reading experience is as good as reading paper.

Physcial books? Don't think most people will like to share books, I never get any books returned by my friends voluntarily :p

But good idea though, make it like this, anyone taking a membership have to deposit some money to the website, if he steals the book, the money will be given to the lender, nice idea you have here.

hmm good point there, this hadn't crossed my mind. But the people could sell instead of share . Basically the site would allow people to meet other people with similar interest in books and then whether they want to sell or share would be up to them.

^yeah kleptos apart, you can read your amazon ebook store purchases from a bunch of other platforms, and you get access to a wide range of titles not available on the local shelves, so its more of a must buy thing if you are into books, but only if you are willing top regularly buy books, the freebs not worth nothing
