1. Budget?
~17k, might stretch it for some beauts.... :))

2. Display type and size?
4 inch, inside tech doesnt really matter.

3. Form Factor? bar, slider, flip?
bar

4. Preferred choice of brand?
samsung, se, lg (if it comes to that)

5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).
full touch

6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.

5mp. autofocus, flash, front cam are added bonuses...

7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).
ANDROID!!!!!!!!

8. Preferred connectivity options (3G, Wifi etc)Please specify clearly.
3g, wifi, bluetooth

9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc)?
none particularly

10. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?
internet, camera, apps

11. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
se xperia neo v, samsung galaxy s slcd (i9003), lg optimus black, samsung galaxy s plus (i9001)

12. Any other info that you want to share
No to moto (even though i secretly want the defy+) because of servicing issues.

Now i started with the samsung fit.... saw the galaxy ace and upped the budget.... then started thinking that ace was quite old (by droid standards).. so moved on to se xperia neo v and galaxy s.

i want something quite future proof..... ie. ics.

se neo seems to be a pain if i were to go the "unofficial rom" way.

i was told by a showroom rep that the samsung galaxy s slcd (i9003) comes with ginderbread (2.3.5) and will also get ics update. will somebody confirm??

ive heard that se's phones drain out their batteries quite fast.... i hope they werent talkin about the neo....

that the samsung galaxy doesnt have a flash i a big bummer to me..... i have use for it as a flashlight... .

so its se neo v vs samsung galaxy s (i9003) vs galaxy s plus (i9001).
is it worth it paying the extra 3k for the s plus over the galaxy s? 400mHz speed bump -- is it justified in the long run??

i realize these phones not be something worth showing off in a few months... (i mean peformance; i couldnt care less about the looks, color and the like :-D).. so i dont want to spend more for negligible improvements.

if u people feel these phones arent worth it, i might as well fall back on the galaxy ace.... guess those upper mid range phones will have to wait...

thanks.

if u want ICS update & want a future proof fone {atLeast 2 years}
& in the budget of >20k

Then go fort Nexus S, its the best fonr u can get in ur budget
moreover its a pure GooGlE phone with all the advantages & will first get ICS update.

it has a good battery Life too.

a Good dev community support

u Just have to compromise on Flash.

Xperia Neo V which will be updated to ICS (Officially announced by Sony) and can be overclock to 1.9ghz depending upon each mobile hardware. :)

Get the Nexus S for just 19.3k at the mobilestore.
You can even grab it locally from here since it has branches all over the country.
This is the lowest online and offline price at the moment. You may even get 5% cash back if u order/buy from there using credit card of SBI or mastercard to bring down the cost to just 18335/- (inquire more about this).

Thanks all for your help. I went for the galaxy s l thanks to larger screen and battery. Sat in the showroom for half an hour with neo and galaxy in front of me ... then made up my mind.
