Please recommend the size of UPS for my new PC build

Here are the specification of the new PC I am planning to build:

Intel Core i7 2600k
Asus p8p67 Motherboard
1TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
2x4GB G-Skill Ripjaws RAM
NVIDIA GTX 590
Corsair 750HX PSU
Dell U2311H 23" Monitor
Netgear WLAN (Wifi) Card

Please recommend an UPS (only APC, no other brands) of appropriate power capacity for this build. Will a 1000VA APC UPS be enough?

This is the one I am planning to buy but not sure if it will be enough:
APC Back-UPS RS, 1000VA, 230V, INDIA

Considering I live in Kolkata, it will be great if someone could link me to an APC model that's available here and also price if possible. Thanks.

I am concerned because the GTX 590 is a real power hungry card. Besides, the power factor of that UPS seems to be really low.

More opinions from other members would be great.

yesterday i bought an APC 1100VA UPS (BR1100CI-IN) - 4.37k. u could get that one - pretty solid.

sam1, that's the same model most shops in Chadni are selling and also recommending but it doesn't have the auto shutdown feature which is very important to me as I often leave my machine unattended while encoding videos. So, I have chosen to go for the 1000VA BR1000-IN model instead.

More opinions please guys. Still can't decide.

@nginx

whats your max. budget for the ups? If you're looking for an ups with better PF, go for APC Smart-UPS.

See:

*bitfang.com/SubCat/Computer-Hardware_UPS.aspx
*www.primeabgb.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=266&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53

Look for:
APC SUA1500I 1500 VA 980 Watts UPS -> 15k
APC SUA1000I 1000 VA 670 Watts UPS -> 13k

My budget is 5k (max 6k). APC's Smart-UPS range in too expensive. 13k for 1000VA? That's ridiculous. I can get 1500VA for 9k easily in Kolkata but I cant afford to spend that kind of money on an UPS :(

This model would suit me well but I fear its not available here:
Buy APC | APC Home UPS 1000VA Sine wave output | Buy UPS

Without the battery? Oops, then its no good for me.

To be honest, I can get both the 1000VA and the 1500VA APC models locally in Kolkata. So I have no reason to buy online. But since the 1500VA is almost double the cost of the 1000VA, I am just asking whether 1000VA (600W) will be enough for my PC build?

That's an inverter, requires battery worth 8-9k. PC/PSU operation with an inverter depends on switching time.

Since you're going for a high-end config with GTX 590 (which alone costs 33k abroad) and all... thought you might be interested in a pure sine wave UPS.

Pure sine wave UPS provides cleaner power to the PSU during backup. APC Smart-UPSs are pure sine wave UPSs, thats why they cost a hell of a lot more dough than modified sq. wave ones.

Its not that a square wave UPSs won't work... even I'm using APC 1.1KVA BR1100CI-IN (modified sq. wave) with Corsair TX750, absolutely no problems so far neither at switching nor during backup.

Get: BR1000-IN or BR1500-IN

BR1000-IN would suffice for HX750
BR1500-IN best for future upgrades/headroom+less stress on UPS during backup at very high load:grin:

The online links were for reference only..

modder, once again a big thank you. You have been really helpful to me.

Yes, I know the Smart-UPS produce pure sine wave but I just don't have that kind of money to spare behind an UPS. Hell, I cant even spare enough money for the BR1500-IN which would have laid to rest all doubts and its all because I am sparing no expense behind building a really powerful rig from the bottom up :D

So I guess I have to settle for the BR1000-IN for now.

No worries :) BR1000-IN is a tried and tested UPS in its price range & it can definitely handle HX750

Just a thought:
How about AX750 instead of HX750 :smile:?

What are the benefits of AX750 over HX750? I am having a difficult time finding HX750 as it is with only MD Computers selling it and that too at an extremely high price. I doubt they have even heard of AX750.

If you know which shop in Chadni sells the HX750 or AX750 at a cheap price, do let me know.

They want Rs.9200/- for the HX750 while TX750 is around Rs.5900/-. The price difference is huge!!

@nginx

HX750 & AX750 should be in range 8k & 9k respectively. They're asking too much for it. Whom did you talk to at MD? Talk to Pradeep da@MD directly. I think they're giving old quotes. Tell them to confirm the price from Corsair distributors first. If they still ask for the same, give Tirupati ent. a call.
