Though I may appear new to everyone, but I was active some few months back here. I forgot all my account data so I created a new one. Now since no helpful members are left on Chip forum, I have come here with a really big hope after seeing the number of people active here. ;-)

(Proceed reading the following only if you have a 64 bit OS on your system)

What I need is the latest driver for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 GFX 'card' that's on my lappy. The latest driver, though available on the AMD website, presents me a big problem. For downloading the graphics driver meant for laptop, it is first needed to download a 1 MB utility that further downloads the main driver and also gives an option to save it on the computer. This utility works on a 64-bit system which I have on my lappy. But I can no way connect to the internet using the laptop. I visited a lot of cafes but no luck: all have 32-bit OSes so my work can't be done anywhere.

So, its my humble request for 64-bit Win 7 users to download and then upload the driver on any file host for me if your connection permits.

1. Download this 1 MB utility from AMD: *www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe
2. Run the file, extract everything on the desktop.
3. Open the extracted folder and run "CatalystMobility" file.
4. Download the driver setup and save it and then upload it to any file host for me to download.

Waiting for help with a big hope... :)

Available only for desktops and not for notebooks. Drivers are different for both. I tried installing the desktop driver but I couldn't.

Well, I DL'ed from your link, and then extracted the contents. Clicked on "CatalystMobility.exe", but it will not DL, cause it finds a mismatch to my GPUs...?

You want the extracted contents, I can upload them for you.

Try the Rage3d site. They have all drivers updated.

@Neuron: Hey many thanks for the link. But how should I ensure that the driver is meant for laptops?

@asingh: No I don want the extracted contents. I think that that driver can be downloaded only by those wio have that GPU. Bad luck. :( I will try your link too.

It would be better if ppl can give me links.

Really helpful ppl here. :)

^^Oh well that true.
Well I found this driver on Lenovo's support site: *www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-75692
Is this the correct driver for my system? Its for HD 545v. And they say that that driver will be supported by my lappy. Also I have heard that "545v" is the new name for 4500. Is that true? Windows 7 automatically installs HD 4500 driver for me. Are HD 4500 and HD 545v the same?

^^This driver doesn't work at all. I downloaded the driver for Lenovo support site and that worked. I know its very stupid but I don't understand what card my system actually has. The Lenovo datasheet says that its "HD 5145", Lenovo's support site provides a driver for "HD 545v" (and that works very well), Windows installs "HD 4500" -- ?? Anybody, can you explain me?

Since I could not download the driver from AMD, I downloaded the latest from Lenovo's support site and that worked! It's that simple. :)
