budget to low for the kind of usage you have! you won't get decent performance in this budget!
if you can increase your budget then it'll be good!

Thanks for your input!

Please let me know if the following is good ( also add your recommended components)

CPU: i5 650, 3.2GHZ /4MB or quad i5 750 at 2.66 GHz,3.2 GHz
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 or GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3

Memory: Kingston 2 x 2GB or Corsair 2 x 2GB DHX (very costly for me)
Harddisk: WD 1TB or WD 640GB green/blue/black
Graphics card: ATI HD 4650
PSU: 460W/500W cooler Master
DVD-RW: Sony/LG DVD writer
Monitor: Acer 22" Full HD or Benq 22" Full HD (actually no clarity here on which one to choose)

I request people in this community...to provide inputs on whether these are good mixture of components & whether AMD counterpart is available for lesser price/ good bang for buck/ fantastic performance for Architecture design software(s).

The kind of applications you have mentioned, a Quad core processor is better suited for your need. So go for an AMD quad cor processor

My suggestion will be

Athlon II X4 635 2.9GHz @ 4.8k
Biostar TA890GXE @ 6.6k
Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 @ 5.2k

Corsair VX450W @ 3.8k
BenQ 22" G2220 FULL HD LCD Monitor @ 7.5k
Seagate 7200 rpm 1 TB with 32 MB Cache @ 3.2k
2 X 2 GB Kingston 1333 MHz DDR3 @ 4.8k

rest, you decide.

Thanks!!

Of the two combinations which ones to choose:

Issues:

In general, does the usage of an AMD CPU cause more heat & deteriorate/slow down/ require extra cooling? (this pc is going to be used in a hot & humid City without air conditioning)
Will using a AMD CPU cause more power consumption?

config 1:

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT55TFBGRBOX
Mobo : Help me out here ???????????
HD5670 DDR5
6GB RAM

Config 2:

Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor
GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 LGA 1156
HD5670 DDR5
6GB RAM

All other components are going to be same.

Purpose:
Graphics processing: Architecture softwares, Revvit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, photoshop; other purpose include using it for internet browsing, downloading, Microsoft office, watching HD movies, songs etc;It should not hang while using any or all of these softwares simultaneously

IMO,config. 1 is better in terms of Processor.Intel cards are certainly better for your purposes but sure then you'll have to take a Core i7 [xxx.xx] processor which will rake up your budget.....

Chosen of the Omnissiah
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8Ghz @ 9.6k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H motherboard @ 4.5k
2*2GB Kingston/Transcend 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM @ 4.8k
Corsair vx450 @ 3.8k -- or FSP Saga II 500w @ 2.5k
Seagate or WD Caviar Blue 500GB Hard Disk @ 2k
BenQ 22" G2220 FULL HD LCD Monitor @ 7.5k
NZXT Gamma cabinet @ 2k -- or Cooler Master Elite 310 @ 1.5k -- or Cooler Master Elite 430 @ 2.6k
Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 @ 5.2k

Total ~40k

I know I have extended by 5k, but I think this config is the one you should really go for. AMD Phenom II X6 1055T is the best processor out there for your requirements and in your budget.

If you'll go with Intel Core i5-750 and a H55 chipset motherboard, you'll end up again extending your budget further by 4k from what I have posted above and with no performance benefit for your purpose.

Issues:

In general, does the usage of an AMD CPU cause more heat & deteriorate/slow down/ require extra cooling? (this pc is going to be used in a hot & humid City without air conditioning)

Nope.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T is better than Intel Core i5-750 for the OPs requirements which is NOT gaming. 6 cores and nothing beats them in rendering and multi-threaded performance.

PSU: 460W/500W cooler Master
Avoid Cooler Master PSUs at every cost. They have issues.

Hi guys,

Where do you buy the FSP SagaII & 5670 card?. In bangalore it seems it is not available
Are there any online store in india to buy it? or is it in some other city?

PC for archi design- build done -inviting Inputs/reviews/comments/tweaks

Usage/Purpose:

I am going to install Revit (architecture design software), Adobe photoshop, 3D Studio max etc on this and mainly use it for Archi design, photo/video editing.

* How is it going to fare? What are your thoughts on this build ?
* Given the above purpose, how do you think the following build satisfies it?Give your inputs.
* let me know whether this config is a overkill or shortcomings of this config, if any?
* One thing I noted is that Onboard graphics does not work with core i5 7xx + Gigabyte board. One has to use i5 6xx for it to work.

This build was purchased also based on inputs from my previous thread:

CPU: Core I5 760
Mobo: Gigabyte GA H55M-UD2H
RAM: 2 x 2GB Corsair 1333
HDD : WD 1TB with 64MB cache
GPU: MSI R5670-PMD1G Radeon HD 5670 (Redwood) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5
Cabinet: Cooler Master 310
SMPS: cooler Master 500W

I am going to install these tomorrow:

OS: windows 7 x64 & Windows xp x64 ( with the kind of bells & whistle & bugs in windows 7 (file copying is very slow in windows 7, for sure its a bug - it irritates me) I m gonna install windows xp x64)
and other softwares like Bitdefender AV etc etc.

Thanks everyone.
I have built the PC based on some inputs from this thread:

I have made another thread inviting comments/review/suggestions/tweaks on my new build (this topic thread is different so was not sure whether to post that here):

sorry quoting your old post, but the thread was bumped up. anyways, you dont need a high end PC to run these softwares. My dad has been working as an architect for more than 30 years,he uses this stuff (latest versions),and they work well enough to work even on older systems.....so apart from 3D,all the rest should be fine.....hope you dont mind....

Copying in Windows 7 is completely fine. It was Widows Vista which had that bug. :p

I won't suggest installing Windows XP x64. if you want a 64bit OS, then it has to be Windows 7.

Hi ! Seriously...I did install windows 7 64bit in my friend's pc & in this PC and in my bro's new laptop....

All had the copying problem...It takes VErrrryy Long time to copy files from usb to hdd.
Even hdd to hdd causes this problem.
I think it is because of some updates ( I updated windows 7 immediately after installing);
