k lets say i have a budget of 8k. if i wait until fermi's released and ati cuts the prices of their cards, which card will fall into this price bracket? and will these cards be better than dx10 cards like 4870 and such?

That is like asking:
Will it rain or snow tomorrow. And if it rains will it be colder if it snows -- tomorrow.

GPU prices and new releases is an extremely fluid and dynamic model. Too difficult to predict.

If you mean unlock the cores.. No. Not with the latest BIOS. HD4870 would require a VX450W. Its a very power hungry card compared to today's 40nm cards.

What would be the difference between the VX450 and G.Superb460W.

Should not both be able to deliver minimal throughput of 450W..?

Well stability is a big question in Gigabyte. Haven't heard any feedbacks of that yet since its a very new PSU and not many people have it or have posted any feedbacks. Whereas VX450W... you know the rest!

Gigabyte 460W is actually closer to a 400W unit, somewhat overrated by Gigabyte. This is what I read in some forums, after a quick Google. Besides, it is not 80+ certified, but delivers efficiency around 80%. VX450W is a massively underrated unit as you very well know. :) Besides, I like recommending the CM Real Power Pro 460W more these days, for those on a tight budget especially. 3.5k is VFM, while the VX450W is grossly overpriced.

^^ You are fine. It is compatible with the Phenom 2 line also.

It will support all this:

It is socket AM2+, which supports all of this.

VX450 is a lot more future proof considering the extra bucks you pay for it.
The CM Real Power Pro 460W is as future proof considering that it can deliver close to 500-520W on load easily.

You need to read the website carefully. Check the above link and you should be good to go. Athlon II X4 620 is there under socket AM3.
