Got myself a Nokia E 63 yesterday. Great phone. My mobile service provider is "Aircel" in Kolkata. In my previous phone SE 700 I, I could check my mails as well as surf the net.

I requested the "Aircel" customer centre guys, to send me the GPRS settings today, but they said, that they have only WAP, & no GPRS, which I was using for last 4 months & I have to manully set the Nokia E 63 , as this phone is not yet listed in their system.

I tried to manually set the same, but could not find any WAP configurations; does that mean,

1. With 'Aircel", I cannot access I.Net on this phone?
2. Is there something I am missing out?
3. What are the other options left ?

Sincerely, requesting help from all, as my work is getting seriously hampered.

Is there no way you can just send an SMS and directly receive the settings?

If not then just call the customer care and get the access point and IP address and then enter them manually in the phone.

No, there's no way which I have confirmed. They say that this phone is not listed with their system. They have given me some manual settings, viz. Apn address, Home page, Network type. However, inspite of my best efforts I cannot configure these settings on my phone, as "Apn Address", & "Network Type' options are missing in my phone.

PLEASE HELP!!!

First of all, it doesn't really matter if the E63 isn't in their system. It uses the same set of settings as any other S60 3rd edition phone. You should've just told them you have got N95 or something and still have got the right settings.

Secondly, now that you have the settings, in your phone go to Menu>Settings>Connections>Access Points>(left soft key) Options> New Access Point. Then in the fields fill in all the settings that you got. Put the apn address in the Access Point Name and if there is any IP address provided then press Options and then select Advanced settings and then enter the address in the Phone IP address field. You can leave the remaining fields as it is. Then select this newly created setting in the Web browser settings and you are good to go.

Krazzy, k4ce, thanks a lot; I asked for E 61 settings & it has worked. However, I would need further help w.r.t two more issues.

1. While all the settings for the gmail server has been uploaded, when ever I try to connect to my mail box it says " Incoming mail server not found. Check mailbox settings". I have set up the e- mail exactly as per the guidelines & have also checked the settings which are o.k.

2. While trying to browse the Nokia website, I was shocked to find that for a 4 minutes of browsing, Rs. 25.00/- was deducted from my account, while when I checked my rediffmail it was 10p/kb. What could be the reason for this?

Please help.

Which server did u give in the settings?
If u r using pop3 protocol give pop.gmail.com
If u r using IMAP protocol give imap.gmail.com

You need to ask for 'full GPRS' service. This will enable you to use your phone's email client. But this service may cost you a few hundred extra bucks. I am not sure about Aircel but this service is mostly offered to a post paid customer.
