I have a transcend USB 2.0 Jetflash flash drive (256 MB), purchased more than 2 years ago. It was working fine on win 98 and XP (minus SP2). I bought a laptop (Dell) with XP SP2 already installed. I plug in the device and I get a "blue screen of death" with some message irq_less_than... something. I have to reboot the sytem. It continues to work fine with my desktop. I formatted it and checked for any errors. I contacted the manufacturer, they washed their hands off saying they don't cover products that are 2 years old. But they did try to assist me. They squarely blamed on the OS. Microsoft did not bother to reply. Any idea what's going on?

I too have faced the sameproblem & later found out that indeed it was a XP problem SP1 in my case, I later installed slipstreamed XPSP2& then it worked all fine.

What is slipstreamed SP2? I regularly update my laptop and I believe that my system has latest updates, patches of fixes that microsoft has to offer.

slipstreamedSP u dont have to apply SP2 patch seperately, its integrated, just google to find out more.

In my case this problem started when I updated to SP2 but networking went down & started getting this same usb error so I rolled back to SP1 but the usb problem remained then.

Go to Device Manager, select ur USB controller. Select the Resources tab and chk the IRQ value. Try to change it if possible. Els try to roll back SP2 to SP1...
