I bought a canon pixma mp145 today
when i tried to install the catridges i found those cannot be fixed.i followed the figures in manual and finally found that
THERE ARE NO CATRIDGE HOLDERS IN THE PRINTER!!!
in that position only a steel rod is found. There is no electronic part to join with the circuits in the catridge. only a steel rod coming from other parts. Then i called my dealer he suggested to bring back the printer
Now my doubts
The electronic products r not checked before marketing?
Canon is not a good brand?
Should i ask to replace the product or go for other brands like hp, epson etc?

Canon is a good brand and a reliable company. There's more than one possible reason for your experience.

Maybe you were accidentally given a unit that had been returned and opened for repair.

Maybe someone had tampered with it at the distributor or dealer level.

Maybe, just maybe, it was a rare case of production error at the Canon factory. Remember that Canon, like any other giant company, produces thousands and thousands of the same model in an assembly line. There's a remote chance that one batch was shipped out in an incomplete condition, but that's not very likely.

I never had such an experience with Canon. Take the unit back to the dealer or canon service center.

You must realize that canon makes about a million such units every day. No manufacturing process is ever perfect. Sometimes errors do occur.

Take it easy. Consider your self to be lucky. Out of a million boxes, it was your box that had the error.

pimpom is right..they would have a failure rate of arnd 0.01% and you just happend to be that one person. The japs have very stringent quality checks and processes in place

Apologies to all

Dont kill me guys...that was a mistake!
The CATRIDGE HOLDERS were hidden somewere!!!
I just took it back to dealer then the guys operated, the catridge holder slide thru the rod and redy to be fixed.I put the catridges also THEY ARE TAKEN AWAY along with the holders!!!!
Then its sliding most of the times..

But belive me guys...I tried my way best in the first time according to manual but the catridge holders were not found.
I felt ashamed when that guy simply did that.

Anyway now its working fine!!

Hmpf....what is done is done. Title is misleading though :p. Leaves a bad impressions on people who just lurk around the forums and read the title thread only.

True. However, we all make mistakes and, as you said, what's done is done.

But we, the more experienced members, are also to blame because none of us thought of the fact that the cartridge holders are usually hidden on one side in the normal OFF position.

The cartridge holders position themselves at the centre when you open the cover, while the unit is on.

Good to know that you got it eventually. ;)
