Windows XP hanging in Acer Aspire 5502..Help !!!

Hi

I have Win XP SP2 working fine . yesterday a problem came . I can open my computer but none of drives is double clickable. The window freezes.BUt if I go to run and give exact path.of program its working fine ..same with any folder ..its not opening by mouse dbl clik .....i have run AVG anti virus chk..nothing found ..system has become very slow..also i cant format as DVD drive isnt recognizing any DVD/CD .

Is the same problem with Safe Mode as well?

No yaar..In safe mode there is no problem ...can u suggest some solution
