WINDOWS XP & AUTHENTICATION
At times when I go to Microsoft sirte to download some file it first checks my system to see whether I have genuine XP and then permits me to download the file.
Kindly enlighten me as to what MS checks on my system and where.

It checks for the product key in your system. It is stored in the system registry. You can use softwares like *www.michaelstevenstech.com/ViewKeyXP.zip
to view your key from the registry. They can search these keys for you instead you going and finding the registry.

EDIT: Please see to it that you dont double post,if it happens unknowingly just delete the second post- digen

I think its another way to encourage users to use original products so you get the benefits if you are using the real deal.
