Windows styled software management in PC-BSD

Don't know if you guys know this or not. The PC-BSD 1.5 has a windows styled software manager. You can have your packages installed by:

1. Double click on the installer file (File with .pbi extension)
2. Answer a few questions by moving through some setup screens.

yup. we know it. thats why PC-BSD is not above other BSDs in eliteness.

PC-BSD is rather simple and n00b friendly.
so its in its own class.

The point here is that, people entering the linux want to try their hands on new softwares as they do on their windows installation. This is despite the fact there is distro that has software for all his needs.
We all have witnessed many peple in this forum involved in distro hopping extensively.
If they had been given the option to download the interested software and point-and-click install those softwares, it would benefit the user and as well as the linux community by keeping the linux distro databse from exploding.

Well there's a lots of problems with point and click install. Anyways let's see where this project goes.
BTW, PBI's have been there forever in PC-BSD. There's a review of mine on PC-BSD somewhere in the forum(or maybe at ts.in).

Well there's a lots of problems with point and click install.

This issue has been worked on and is working lot better now. Refer to Distrowatch.com review regards this.

People who have limited knowledge doesn't differentiate Linux and BSD's. This can be due to the fact that the desktop versions of BSD' are very much same like the linux distros from the outside, despite the fact that, they are different. So when a windows guy, wanting to try linux, looks BSD also as an option.
