Windows Firewall disabled. How to enable it?

My Windows firewall was automaticly disabled after installing avast Antivirus. Later I uninstalled it and when I try to enable it, it pops out the following error..

We are sorry. The security centre could not turn on the Windows Firewall. To try running the windows firewall yourselves go to control panel open Windows Firewall and enable it

But when I try to open Windows Firewall settings through Control anel another error is shown:

Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display the Firewall settings

Any solutions???

Go to computer management and follow the step as stated in the figure.

have a look at the services and see if
"Windows Firewall (WF)/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service" is running/disabled or stopped.
stop that service and then start it back on...
see if it helps..

Hmm nice tip both of you... BUT.................

..........The prob does not end there dudes! There is no Windows Firewall option in that window! See for yourselves!

Don't u get the option of Restoreing the windows firewall in pre-installation stage while unistalling avast Antivirus????????????
