Hi guys.. I need a new wifi router for friends 3 bedroom flat.

The 3 bedrooms are opposite each other and he needs a wifi router which will give him range in both the bedrooms. hewill be placing the router in bedroom 1. (bed 1)

He will require acceptable range in bedrooms 2 and 3..

Please suggest. Will a N300 router like the tp link W8968 do? Or will he need something more powerful?
Right now he has a simple (very old Dlink router- probably wifi b or g)..

He complains that it is impossible to use wifi in the bedroom 3 and the signal keeps dropping out. Please suggest because I would like to know if oving to wifi N would solve the problem.. or will he need a range extender?

If range extender is needed.. should he use a wireless repeater or just a wired access point? Because the wireless repeater will have less range compared to the access point!

Thanks in advance!

While certainly it could be time to go for a new router as it seems current one is very old, Just also try a few things to troubleshoot current issue. Any cordless phone in room3? What signal strength is reported by devices when in room 3?
If router is moved to room3 does same issue observed in room1.
just do a factory reset on router and set it up again. Select a channel manually rather than leaving it auto mode. Try combinations of b/g/n mode or set a single mode.
