In Win XP u can also use Windows Media Player 10 to watch DVD movies

but u need external codes for it. which k-lite codec pack gives

I am using the windows classic media player that caME WITH K LITE CODEC PACK. iT PLAYS ALL FORMATS, I.E, MOV,DAT,RM,RA,MPG ETC.

@gramesh, it is something like you can't play a cd in a floppy drive. you dig?

Though the sizes are same and such, the laser used to read cds and dvds is somehow different. DVD players have both but cds can read only cds. Now bluray drives will be able to read cds, dvds and bluray discs and so on.
