XFX 8600 GT is priced at 7.5k
&
XFX 8600 GT Fatality is priced at 10k

So , Which 1 should i opt ?

Also , Consider that Stock 8600 GT has its Core clocked at 540 MHz and memory at 1400 MHz , XFX soups the Fatal1ty with a core speed of 620 MHz and memory clock running at 1700 Mhz

In the game test of Dirt , 8600 GT could barely run at High Settings !

If this card can't run enen present day's high-end card , then how cud it be future-proof !

Anyways , Its the best card under 10k bcoz other better card i.e 8800 GTS is priced at 18 k

XFX 8600 GT Fatality is better than 8600gt.I own a XFX 8600gt,and get 22 fps in Dirt with all setting high except resolution(1024*768).Don't except too much from 8600 fatality, because you still get low fps in dirt.I suggest you to get XFX 8600gts or the monster 8800gts 320mb.:)

Forget all this DX10 hype and get real. 95% of all games are DX9, and
upcoming games will support DX9 no doubt, because DX10 is not even
1% of the market.

The market is predominantly DX8 and DX9, with some DX7.1 thrown in.
So you can safely get a DX9 card which will kick the a$$es of both of
these cards mentioned.

What are your options?

Well, you can easily go for a 7950GT, or push a little higher
and go for a 7950GX2 (single slot SLi card).

Either of these cards are wicked sick performers and give superb framerates
even under ridiculously high settings. (Check www.guru3d.com if you don't
believe me).

The XFX 7950GT XXX edition is the best thing to have, and not just cost
wise (which is very very reasonable), but because it just rips through all
games you can throw at it.

Now if someone wants to run F.E.A.R at 2560x2048 with 16x Anisotropic
Filtering and 8x Anti aliasing with full lighting and all effects turned to
max, that's a different issue. BTW, even then, this beast will do about 20
to 25 fps, if your ram and processor are good. Those cards which you are
considering right now will have their panties up in a bunch and catch fire
under the settings I mentioned.

I've seen too too many of my friends go for these garbage cards, and it's
disheartening to see them upset due to low framerates in every game.

E.g., My 7900GS XXX edition (Overclocked) coupled with my P4 3.73
Extreme Edition just KILLS any game I throw at it, at resolutions like
1280x1024. True, higher resolutions suffer, but hey, it doesn't make me
a difference because 1280x1024 is a fabulous resolution, and my monitor
doesn't support anything higher!

The other day I compared the performance of the card against and
8600GT with the same game under same settings, and boy, was I happy!
:) (And sad due to an upset friend).

So watch it, be wise, stay away from the hype, and make a wise decision.
After all, the thing that counts is the framerates you get, not DX10
support.

Anything less than a 8800GTS 320MB for DX10, or an HD2900XT, is
crappy. Take it from a person who has sat his posterior testing almost
all cards recently and not so recently released by nVidia.

Happy gaming!

^^^ i agree wid you. except the 8800gts all other cards are crap as far as good gaming performance is concerned. dx10 games will take some time to mature and come out of the shell. buy whats good for you today, tom you may get better cards out there for cheaper prices when dx10 games become common. i'd got wid 7950 anyday or the 8800. nothing in between them!

See guyz ,

U all r right but a Direct X10 Card makes more sense as it is a future-proof.
Also , With newer Drivers my new 8600Gt wud be performing quite well 4 the money spent by me !

As for 8600 GTS , its a bad card & gives Poor VFM
As for 8800 GTS , It is priced too high at 18.5k which is FAR beyong my budget of 10k ........

Any more suggestion welcomed .............................

I think your proc will bottleneck 8800gts or any 79series card.Only option left is to choose between 8600gts or 8600gt.

exactly! there's a huge void in between the low and the high end dx10 cards and this void is filled up by the Dx9 cards :) thats all i'm saying...

12k here in Kolkata. Should be able to strike a deal for 11.5k. It's a bloody
steal, and only a moron will go for an 8600 card instead of this.

(No offence meant)

Lol(no offense though)None of u have tested the patch 1.4 of lost planet extreme conditions with the latest nvidia drivers,I posted a thread regarding it.The performance has improved drastically in DirectX 10 setting everything to its highest possible value including shadows with HDR set to medium(its set to medium even in directX 9).The code has been rewritten in native DirectX 10 values.Bioshock is also a good example of DirectX 10 performance.

If u think practically , Direct x10 card makes a better sense than 7950 GT !

Also , 8600GT costs 7k while 7950GT costs 11.5k !

After buying 8600GT , the only concern i wud have wud be that it can't play Dirt at Max settings ...........

Its a bit difficult to understand why the 8600 does not perform well. Its has theoretically more pipelines than 7950Gt and added to that they can be dynamically allocated which means that they should perform well over 7800 Ultra(this is what they should beat).Well the only reason is that though nvidia spent 5years for G80(Geforce 8800)It spent only little time for the 8600 series GPU(don't care about the code name).

Everything depends on what you want...........really. The only factor that
matters to me is higher framerates......... on that front, since I cannot afford
an 8800 ultra at the moment, I'll go for an HD2900XT. 100% euphoric
performance............ and in crossfire, it kills.

There are a lot of flaws in the R600 u will have to dig deep on the net to understand.I have posted some of them in digit. And don't tell me about their performance in 3dmark06(in crossfire)very soon u'll realize what's going on.
