Check the drive info in crystaldisk and do post a screenshot. If anything comes up time to hit the rma.

Btw what does pending sector count mean ?

I am getting that error with a caution in CrystalDiskInfo.

It means the number of sectors that could not be read. if you try to write to these sectors and if they can not be correctly written, they will be remapped to a spare sector.

Yesterday , I kept it connected for time. It showed up and again it took 5 mins to display the contents.
Today it's back to being dead :/

Hi theserpent,

I am glad to help you out. Based on your post, it may be a hardware issue. I would like to check with you, does it show up in the Disk Management? Is there any error message? If possible, please provide a snapshot and the specific error message.

For the meantime, you may try to run Windows Data Lifeguard Diagnostics software utility, to confirm that the HDD is working properly and there is no hardware issue. Please refer to the link below for Windows Data Lifeguard Diagnostics:

How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows .

If Its hardware fault, and your product is under warranty, you may proceed for an RMA.

Please check the warranty and RMA services at the link below.

Hi KKn13,

According to warranty policy terms, yes. If you do open up the drive, you will not be entitled for warranty claim.
For the My Passport, I would also not recommend opening it for a technical reason.

This is due to the fact that its PCB board is connected with the platter, and its USB connector is directly connected with the HDD. If you open it, you will literally be destroying the HDD itself, unless you have special tools from advanced data recovery experts. The My Passport is built with the idea of small size, so I recommend you to don’t try to open it.
