Sorry "devilzdad" for hijacking your post, but I have a similar query.
Just a day ago I connected Fedora Core 5 with GPRS net, so want to learn more on linux, and preferably make a career in it. So what should be my best bet? Is it LAMP or Shell Scripting or any other?

Just pick up something that interests you. If you'll can mention more about your background with linux like why use it, what do you aim to do with linux in future, what interests you in linux, etc then people can get more idea about you and recommend something.

@t_y_f, sure.

I have just started using Linux. My goal is clearly to become a web developer, writing codes for webpages and web applications as well. I don't wan't to go through the .NET was which is very much in demand now as I have heard. Programming is clearly in my mind.

So I wish to learn those things which will give me equal chances to work on both the platforms. So until now my game plan is learn LINUX > HTML > PHP > don't know what next. I have just started working as a Junior SEO specialist. I am more like a Baby SEO Specialist :grin: as of now.

To get a good understanding of linux CLI & scripting, started reading from *www.linuxcommands.org today.
So am I on the right path so far? Ask me again if my intension sounds confusing. Actually you guys are more close to the IT scenatio of our country than me, so put some light.

So what will be better to go for,
1] Languages of the web i.e HTML,PHP etc or
2] Programming lanugages like C++ and Java or
3] Bash Shell Scripting [ Is Good Shell Scripting OK enough for a career :confused: ]

3. I wud say shell scripting is a must. U'll really have a lotta command over ur system n do wateva u want.
1. Implementing Php+Mysql is a piece of cake and LAMP, well since u mentioned it, I hope u know abt it.
2. Java is the same, but u need to learn a lil abt c++ coz gcc is diferent than tc.
