hi

i m getting always this error........virtual memory is low
......what should i do..........

how to change virtual memory settings ?

MysticHalo

Your Maker.
Run>sysdm.cpl>advanced tab>performance settings>advanced tab.
There, in the virtual mem. section, increase mem so that it the minimum virtual mem is twice the physical memory(RAM) and max is approx 3 or more times ur RAM (depends on ur HD space)

BUt this wont help much...the mentioned error occurs mainly when u run intensive apps in RAM-deficient machines. Consider increasing ur RAM.

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4. On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.
5. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
6.Under Paging file size for selected drive, click to select the System managed size check box, and then click Set.
7.Click OK three times.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

hope this will work

Just increasing Virtual Memory won't solve your problem. You have not specified the RAM - whether it is 128 , 256 MB. Windows XP needs 256 MB RAM for good
performance. Also take into consideration how many programs are running at the
same time. If you open too many programs it will consume too many resources.
Also try freeing the memory by using RamBooster. Get it here :

It will surely help to free the resources.

i don't disagree with what u say. but it may so happen dat his virtal memeory has indeed been set very low. I got 512 MB of RAM. Somebody using my computer d other day fiddled with it and set it to less than 100 and i strted getting the same mesage. All i did was increase the Vitual memeory to an apropriate value and the message stopped coming.
So my friend b4 going 4 a RAM upgrade, just follow the methods given above to increase ur virtual Ram and see if the problem disapears

I have disabled virtual memory as an experiment and there has not been any problem for the last few weeks since I did so.

I have Win XP updated, Open Office, Avast, Spybot etc. And usually i dont run more than one or two programs at a time. Most of the time more than half the memory is free.

BTW I have 1GB.
